CarGurus Analysis: 2014 Toyota Camry
overall

Summary
With 1,388 currently listed for sale and an average price of $11,904.00, 27.1% of 2014 Toyota Camrys for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2014 Toyota Camry 4.4 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.5 / 10.
46.7% of 2014 Camry models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2014 Toyota Camry stands out as a straightforward, sensible midsize family sedan that emphasizes affordable, safe transportation over flash. It is described as the peak of the bell curve for midsize family sedans, with nothing wrong with it but also nothing especially inspirational, which neatly captures its appeal: it aims to do the basics well rather than chase excitement.
One notable distinction is that a 2014.5 model built after December of 2013 is the version rated a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. That makes this Camry especially appealing to buyers who prioritize safety alongside everyday practicality. Owner feedback also points to reliability, comfort, fuel efficiency, a spacious trunk, and a smooth ride, while some drivers wished for a backup camera. Taken together, the 2014 Toyota Camry comes across as a dependable, value-focused choice for commuting and traveling.

Test drove one and its comfortable as the Ford Fusion, has the leg space for taller folks in the rear. The trunk space is adequate enough to fit 4 large duffel bags flat + 1 on top of those so if youre planning a trip and have a lot of goodies, you dont need a roof rack to transfer them ( unless you have something more than 4 ft, like fishing rods or tripods etc ). Ride is good and absorbs bumps well. The cars roll isnt hard when turning at speed and it can do 15 to 55 in a great amount of time when you need to accelerate going onto the highway. I would say if youre looking for used, at a great price, dont hesitate to purchase one! Test drive it first a few times to get a feel. And if it fits like a glove, I say go for it!

I enjoy the comfort and feel of the vehicle. Nice tint to keep the inside slightly cooler. Ample trunk space for packing and traveling

How much does the 2014 Toyota Camry cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $11,933 |
| Year-Round Low | $11,385.68 |
| Year-Round High | $12,031.38 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $12,030 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −0.81% |
Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.
There are 1,371 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare. If you find a listing below $11,385.68, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2014 Toyota Camry a good car?
Generally — the 2014 Toyota Camry earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.
Owners consistently praise its reliability, comfort, and fuel efficiency, and they also call out the spacious trunk and smooth ride. The overview frames it as a straightforward midsize family sedan that focuses on affordable, safe transportation, which matches the way shoppers tend to use it: commuting, traveling, and everyday family duty. With 23.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2014 Toyota Camry reliable?
Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner summary repeatedly points to reliability, and it also describes the Camry as dependable and a strong value for money. The expert cost-effectiveness commentary reinforces that by saying it rates well in quality, dependability, and reliability studies, and that it is inexpensive to own and operate. It also notes free scheduled maintenance for the first two years or 25,000 miles, which helps lower early ownership costs.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the Camry’s basic durability and more about how well a specific example was maintained and cared for.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Toyota Camry?
At 47.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has any accident history or incomplete service records. Focus on condition details that matter in daily use: ride quality, interior wear, and whether the equipment you want is actually present on the trim you’re considering. If you’re shopping for a family sedan, make sure the car’s safety equipment and convenience features match your expectations before you commit.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Camry lineup ranges from the basic L to the better-equipped LE and XLE, with the SE adding a sport suspension, paddle shifters, unique wheels, a body kit, and a rear spoiler. The L is the most stripped-down choice, while the LE adds a fancier grille, automatic headlights, and remote keyless entry. The XLE brings fog lights, extra chrome trim, 17-inch wheels, faux wood trim, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated mirrors, dual-zone climate control, and an upgraded infotainment system.
- Powertrain: You can shop a 178-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder or an optional 3.5-liter V6. The four-cylinder is the efficiency play at 28 mpg combined, while the V6 is the stronger choice and is rated at 25 mpg combined.
- Safety package: Toyota offers Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert on the SE, XLE, and XLE Hybrid. Safety Connect, with roadside assistance, SOS emergency assistance, automatic collision notification, and a stolen-vehicle locator, is limited to the XLE and Hybrid XLE.
- Infotainment: The Camry uses the Entune touchscreen family, and the LE and XLE can be equipped with Entune Audio Plus. The source does not specify wireless smartphone integration or over-the-air capability.
- Fuel efficiency: The four-cylinder Camry SE is rated at 28 mpg combined, while the V6 version is rated at 25 mpg combined. The Camry Hybrid is rated at about 40 mpg combined.
Which 2014 Toyota Camry trim should I buy?
The 2014 Toyota Camry is offered in 6 trim levels: L, LE, XLE, SE, Hybrid LE, Hybrid XLE.
Here's the short version:
- L: This is the bare-bones choice, and it makes sense only if you want the lowest-frills Camry possible and are comfortable with dealer-installed extras doing the rest.
- LE: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the features most people actually want, including a nicer grille, automatic headlights, and remote keyless entry, with available upgrades like an 8-way power driver’s seat and Entune Audio Plus.
- XLE: Choose this if you want the most comfort-oriented gas model, with standard fog lights, chrome trim, 17-inch wheels, dual-zone climate control, and a more upscale cabin.
- SE: Pick this if you want the sportiest gas Camry, with a sport suspension, paddle shifters, unique wheels, and a more aggressive appearance, but expect a firmer ride.
- Hybrid LE: This is the efficiency-focused choice, and it adds hybrid-specific equipment along with the fuel economy advantage.
- Hybrid XLE: Choose this if you want the hybrid powertrain plus the most upscale hybrid equipment and comfort features.
Safety Connect is limited to the XLE and Hybrid XLE, while Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are available on the SE, XLE, and XLE Hybrid.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Toyota Camry?
This looks like a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.
- Deal availability: 23.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,371 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 47.2% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $11,385.68, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Toyota Camry's resale value?
The current average of $11,933 sits slightly below last year's $12,030.
That small decline suggests the Camry is holding value fairly steadily rather than dropping sharply. For you as a future seller, that usually means the market still recognizes the model’s practicality, reliability reputation, and broad appeal. A well-kept example should remain easier to move than a less proven sedan, especially if it has strong service history and desirable equipment.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Toyota Camry safe?
It earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS, and it earns five-star ratings from NHTSA.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota’s Safety Connect telematics system includes roadside assistance, SOS emergency assistance, automatic collision notification, and a stolen-vehicle locator, but it is limited to the XLE and Hybrid XLE. Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are available on the SE, XLE, and XLE Hybrid. One important caveat is that the Top Safety Pick result applies to the 2014.5 model built after December 2013; earlier examples were rated Poor in the small overlap frontal-impact test.
Should I buy a 2014 Toyota Camry or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 23.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 47.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- The 2014.5 update matters because it brings the Top Safety Pick-rated version after December 2013.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $13,122, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $11,933 average.
- It adds new styling, an upgraded interior, and expanded infotainment and safety technologies.
The bottom line: If you want the lower-priced, proven-value choice, the 2014 is the better starting point. If you can spend more and want fresher styling plus more modern features, the 2015 is the better upgrade path. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2014 remains the smarter buy as long as you verify accident history and confirm you’re looking at the safer 2014.5 build.
