Is the 2014 Lexus IS a good car?

Yes — the 4.8/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the sleek design, luxurious interior, comfortable front seats, and sporty driving experience. The model also fits you well if you want a compact luxury sedan that feels more driver-focused than purely practical, especially since it emphasizes performance and style over rear-seat space. With 28.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities.

Is the 2014 Lexus IS reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, with praise centered on quality, comfort, and the kind of long-term appeal that helps a car stay desirable. For used buyers, that suggests the bigger risk is less about the model’s reputation and more about how well a specific example has been maintained over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Lexus IS?

At 42.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can catch hidden bodywork, alignment, or wear issues. Focus closely on overall condition, since the best used example will be the one with clean records, consistent maintenance, and no signs that prior damage affected drivability or fit and finish.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Lexus IS?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 590 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.77% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 42.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,693, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Lexus IS's resale value?

The current average of $16,010 sits slightly below last year's $16,638.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favorable point, but it also means future resale gains may be limited unless you choose a particularly clean, well-kept example. If you plan to sell later, condition and documentation matter a lot, because buyers will likely favor cars with cleaner histories and stronger presentation.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2014 Lexus IS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 42.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.77% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $17,316, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $16,010 average.
• It emphasizes driving enjoyment even more strongly.

The bottom line: You should start with the 2014 if you want the lower entry price and a strong owner-satisfaction profile. If you can stretch your budget and want a newer alternative with a more performance-forward personality, the 2015 is worth a look; if price matters most, the 2014 remains the more approachable buy.
