Is the 2014 Lexus ES a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Lexus ES earns a 4.78/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Cost effectiveness, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its luxurious feel, comfort, smooth ride, and quality performance. They also call out its stylish design and reliable luxury-sedan character, which fits well if you want a comfortable daily driver with upscale appeal.

The trade-offs are that some shoppers wanted more advanced safety technology for the price, and the rear seat does not fold down. That makes it a stronger fit if you value comfort, refinement, and a spacious cabin more than maximum cargo flexibility or the latest gadgetry.

With 29.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

The expert commentary reinforces that dependability theme by emphasizing Lexus’s reputation for reliability and comfort, along with the brand’s long-standing appeal for buyers who want a car they can count on.

The ownership picture is especially reassuring if you want a luxury sedan that should feel steady over time, though used buyers should still verify maintenance history and overall condition before committing.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Lexus ES?

At 48.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had prior bodywork or a recent sale. Focus on overall condition, signs of repair quality, and whether the car’s comfort and convenience features work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Available driver aids include lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and a backup camera, with the base version already getting 10 airbags.
• Infotainment: The Remote Touch controller works with an LCD screen and uses a cursor-based interface; the content does not mention wireless smartphone integration or over-the-air updates.
• Fuel efficiency: The ES 350 is described as achieving 21 mpg city, 31 highway, 24 combined in Eco mode.

Here's the short version:

ES 350: This is the trim described in the data, and it brings the 3.5-liter V6, a 6-speed automatic, a comfortable ride, and the upscale cabin that define the car. It suits you best if you want the core ES experience without chasing extra complexity.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Lexus ES?

You should act selectively, because this is still a seller’s market and the best listings can move quickly.

• Deal availability: 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 481 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.08% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 48.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,420, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Lexus ES's resale value?

The current average of $15,718 sits slightly above last year's $15,248.

That upward move suggests the market has held up reasonably well for this model year. If you buy carefully and keep the car in strong condition, you may be starting from a relatively stable price base rather than a sharply depreciating one.

Because the year’s average price is still close to its yearly low and high range, future resale will likely depend heavily on condition, mileage, and history. A clean, well-kept example should be easier to move later than one with accident history or visible wear.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.78/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Lexus ES safe?

The 2014 Lexus ES earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety content says the ES 350 can be fitted with lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and a backup camera depending on option package, while the base version gets 10 airbags. One caveat is the backup camera behavior: startup messages can block part of the image right when you may need it most.

That means you should pay close attention to which safety features are actually installed on the specific car you’re considering, and test the camera and driver-assistance systems during your inspection.

Should I buy a 2014 Lexus ES or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 48.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.08% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.78/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It pairs a comfort-first ride with a responsive, more engaging feel than many luxury sedans.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $16,667, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $15,718 average.
• It emphasizes plush refinement and a more upscale cabin.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2014 is the stronger starting point because it combines solid owner satisfaction, a stable price trend, and a comfort-focused luxury experience. If you’re willing to pay more for a slightly newer model year and a more refined presentation, the 2015 is the alternative to compare.
