How much does the 2014 Honda Pilot cost?

Prices have softened 2.77% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 777 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2014 Honda Pilot a good car?

Generally — 4.4/5. The expert rating is 6.8/10, and the Pilot’s appeal centers on space, utility, and family-friendly practicality. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

Owners repeatedly praise its spacious seating, comfort, and reliability, and they also value how versatile it is for carrying passengers and cargo. The overview frames it as a vehicle built around function over flash, which fits buyers who care more about room and usefulness than style or tech.

With 30.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a compelling price if you shop carefully.

Is the 2014 Honda Pilot reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner feedback also points to reliability and trouble-free ownership as recurring strengths, while the expert evaluation notes that reliability is expected to be better than average. Honda’s cost-effectiveness notes reinforce that expectation, and the Pilot’s straightforward design helps keep ownership simple.

The expert drive notes also suggest the Pilot is built to take plenty of abuse over a long period of time, which supports its durability story. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright fragility and more about finding one that has been maintained well enough to avoid age-related wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Honda Pilot?

At 56.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and how the transmission and steering feel on a test drive, since owner feedback mentions hard shifting and a wide turn radius.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the least expensive version and is the most basic, while the EX adds 18-inch aluminum wheels, a 10-way power driver’s seat, remote keyless entry, and a security system. The EX-L adds leather seats, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a power sunroof, and a power tailgate with separate liftglass, while the Touring adds navigation, a rear-seat entertainment system, a premium audio system, memory for the driver’s seat, and unique machined-finish wheels.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 250 hp and a 5-speed automatic. Variable Cylinder Management helps conserve fuel, and available 4WD with Variable Torque Management adds traction support and a Lock mode for low-speed conditions.
• Safety package: Honda’s ACE body structure is standard, and the Pilot’s crash-test performance is a strength. The available safety tech is limited, though, so you should not expect the more advanced driver-assistance features found in newer SUVs.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes Bluetooth, a USB port, triple-zone climate control with a humidity sensor, and a basic reversing camera. Navigation and a rear-seat DVD system are reserved for higher trims, and the Touring adds both along with a 115-volt power outlet, video input jacks, and a premium sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Pilot’s EPA ratings are 17 mpg city and 24 highway with 4WD, and the expert notes that skipping 4WD improves those figures by 1 mpg in each environment.

Which 2014 Honda Pilot trim should I buy?

The 2014 Honda Pilot is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry price and mainly care about the Pilot’s space and utility. It gives you the core Pilot experience without the extra comfort and convenience features found higher up the range.
• EX: This is the first trim that adds meaningful everyday convenience, including the power driver’s seat, keyless entry, and security system. It’s the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds useful equipment without pushing you into the pricier luxury-oriented versions.
• EX-L: This is the sweet spot if you want a more comfortable family SUV, thanks to leather, heated front seats, a sunroof, and a power tailgate. It’s the trim to target if you want a more upscale feel without going all the way to Touring.
• Touring: This is the right choice if you want the most equipment, especially navigation and rear-seat entertainment. It’s the most feature-rich Pilot, but you’re paying for extras rather than core utility.

The safety content notes that the Pilot lacks many modern safety technologies, so even higher trims do not fully close that gap.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Honda Pilot?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 777 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.77% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 56.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,654, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Honda Pilot's resale value?

The current average of $10,775 sits slightly below last year's $11,082.

That softer pricing suggests the Pilot has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you purchase near the low end of the range and keep the vehicle in good condition, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss later. The current market also shows enough demand and inventory movement to support steady used-car interest.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Honda Pilot safe?

The 2014 Pilot earns an overall four-star rating from NHTSA, and the IIHS called it a Top Safety Pick. It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda’s ACE body structure is designed to help disperse crash energy away from the passenger compartment. The Pilot’s safety story is strong for its era, but the expert review also notes that it lacks many modern safety technologies, and the IIHS result did not include the newer small-overlap frontal-impact test.

Should I buy a 2014 Honda Pilot or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.77% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• Expert or safety highlight specific to this year from the expert summary: it’s a spacious, function-first family SUV with strong utility.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $11,496, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $10,775 average.
• It remains a spacious three-row family SUV, but the design is aging and the tech still trails newer rivals.

The bottom line: If you want the lower price and can live with older tech, the 2014 is the better value play. If you’re willing to spend more for a slightly newer example, the 2015 may appeal, but it doesn’t fundamentally change the Pilot’s core formula.

How does the 2014 Honda Pilot compare to the 2014 Toyota Highlander?

Our experts score the 2014 Honda Pilot 6.8/10 and the 2014 Toyota Highlander 8.7/10. The Highlander is the stronger overall choice, but the Pilot gives you a lower average used price and more listings to shop. The Highlander also posts a higher good-and-great deal share and a slightly better accident-free rate, while the Pilot’s main advantage is affordability.
