How much does the 2014 Ford Mustang cost?

Prices are up 4.65% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,228 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2014 Ford Mustang a good car?

Yes — it earns a 4.86/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Cost effectiveness.

Drivers consistently praise its powerful performance, impressive handling, and classic design, while also liking the sound of the exhaust. The overview points you toward a car that blends heritage styling with a more developed, polished feel, so it makes the most sense if you want a style-first sports car with real driving enjoyment. There are also 29.6% good or great deals in the market, which helps if you’re shopping carefully.

Is the 2014 Ford Mustang reliable?

Owners rate it 4.86/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback highlights the Mustang’s powerful performance, classic design, impressive handling, and the sound of the exhaust, while also pointing to a car that many drivers enjoy over time. The expert notes also describe it as a mature, well-developed version of the nameplate, and the cost-effectiveness commentary says J.D. Power and Associates ranks the Mustang above average for dependability.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that some examples may have been driven hard, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Ford Mustang?

At 58.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage or modified car. Focus on signs of hard use, uneven wear, and any evidence that the car has been driven more aggressively than average. Because this model is often bought for performance and style, condition can vary a lot from one listing to the next.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Mustang brings a 6-cylinder engine, cruise control, stainless steel dual exhaust, HID headlights, and 17-inch alloy wheels, while the V6 Premium adds leather upholstery, the smartphone-linked SYNC system, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, aluminum interior trim, a premium audio package with satellite radio service, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. The GT trims add a 5.0-liter powerplant, 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels, HID headlights, functional hood vents, upgraded audio, a touchscreen navigation system with real-time traffic information, and Brembo brakes.
• Powertrain: The base car uses a 3.7-liter V6 with 305 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, and it can return an EPA-estimated 31 mpg on the highway with the 6-speed manual. The GT uses a 5.0-liter V8 with 420 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque, and it is tuned for stronger straight-line performance.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, AdvanceTrac with electronic stability control, hill-start assist with the available 6-speed manual transmission, and 4 airbags. The car does not include more advanced systems such as blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, or lane-departure warning.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes Ford’s SYNC AppLink technology, and available upgrades add a touchscreen and voice-controlled navigation system with SiriusXM real-time traffic information, HD radio, a 6-month subscription to Travel Link, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
• Fuel efficiency: The 3.7-liter V6 with the 6-speed manual is rated at 31 mpg on the highway. The GT with the 6-speed manual is rated at 15 mpg city and 26 mpg highway, while the available automatic is rated at 18 city, 25 highway, and 20 combined.

Which 2014 Ford Mustang trim should I buy?

The 2014 Ford Mustang is offered in 4 trim levels: base, V6 Premium, GT, GT Premium.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the least expensive way into the Mustang and gives you the 6-cylinder engine, cruise control, HID headlights, stainless steel dual exhaust, and 17-inch alloy wheels. It makes sense if you want the Mustang look and feel without paying for extra comfort or tech.
• V6 Premium: This is the best-value trim if you want a more livable daily driver, because it adds leather upholstery, SYNC, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, aluminum interior trim, a premium audio package with satellite radio service, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat.
• GT: This is the right pick if performance matters most, since it brings the 5.0-liter V8, stronger acceleration, upgraded brakes, and more aggressive hardware. It suits you best if you want the classic Mustang experience in its most muscular mainstream form.
• GT Premium: This is the most complete choice if you want the V8 plus more comfort and convenience, including the premium trim content and available features like navigation, upgraded audio, and Track Apps. It’s the one to choose if you want the strongest mix of performance and equipment.

The safety content notes that the car does not include blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, or lane-departure warning.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Mustang?

This is a seller’s market, so you should act selectively and be ready to move when a strong listing appears.

• Deal availability: 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,228 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 4.65% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 58.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,327, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Ford Mustang's resale value?

The current average of $15,689 sits slightly above last year's $14,992.

That upward move suggests the market has been willing to pay a bit more for this model year. If you own one, that helps support resale value, especially if your car is clean and well maintained. The relatively tight year-round range also suggests that well-priced examples can still move quickly.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Ford Mustang safe?

The 2014 Ford Mustang Convertible earned top marks in all of its crash tests from IIHS, and the NHTSA has awarded it five-star rollover protection.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, AdvanceTrac with electronic stability control, hill-start assist with the available 6-speed manual transmission, and 4 airbags. The car does not offer blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, or lane-departure warning, so you should not expect the kind of driver-assistance coverage found in newer rivals.

Should I buy a 2014 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 4.65% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 is described as the culmination of five decades of engineering development, with especially strong straight-line performance and a more polished feel.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $19,833, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $15,689 average.
• It was redesigned for the 50th anniversary and is described as a big improvement dynamically and technologically.

The bottom line: If you want the better value and a more affordable entry into the Mustang nameplate, the 2014 is the smarter buy. If you’re willing to spend more for a redesigned model with broader appeal and newer tech, the 2015 is the better upgrade path. For price-sensitive shoppers, the 2014 remains the more compelling choice.
