Used 2014 Ford Focus for Sale nearSan Bernardino, CA

How much does the 2014 Ford Focus cost?

Prices have softened 1.73% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,179 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2014 Ford Focus a good car?

Generally — the 2014 Ford Focus earns a 4/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

You’ll see recurring praise for its stylish design, excellent fuel economy, and useful features like the sound system and comfortable front seats. The overview also points to a small car that feels more substantial and polished than a typical economy car, with a composed chassis and responsive suspension. That makes it a fit if you want a compact car that feels more refined than stripped down, though the automatic-transmission concerns are part of the ownership conversation.

27.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there’s still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Ford Focus reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers repeatedly describe it as enjoyable to drive, value for money, and appealing for its stylish design and good features. The same feedback also points to recurring transmission issues, so the reliability picture is mixed rather than spotless. The performance notes also describe the dual-clutch automatic as something that can take getting used to, especially in traffic, which reinforces the idea that dependability may hinge on how the car was maintained and driven.

The cost-effectiveness notes suggest the package can feel worthwhile, but the transmission character may be more of a headache than a help for many drivers. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is most tied to transmission condition and service history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Ford Focus?

At 62.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering an automatic. Pay close attention to transmission behavior on the test drive, along with brake condition, tire wear, and any signs that the car has been driven hard or repaired after a collision. Because the model’s appeal depends heavily on how well it drives and how complete its equipment is, condition matters a lot here.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: S and SE trims use rear drum brakes, while other trims get 4-wheel discs; the Titanium adds summer tires and stronger stopping performance, along with more equipment.
• Powertrain: The 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder makes 160 hp and is paired with a dual-clutch 6-speed automatic; a 5-speed manual is also mentioned, and the automatic can feel hesitant in traffic.
• Safety package: Seven airbags come standard, including a driver’s knee airbag, and the car earned top marks from both major safety organizations; trim choice affects braking hardware.
• Infotainment: The Titanium includes Ford Sync, MyFord Touch, an 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, and a rear-view camera; the system is described as clunky and distracting.
• Fuel efficiency: The automatic returns 27 mpg city and 37 mpg highway, while the manual drops 1 mpg on both ends.

Which 2014 Ford Focus trim should I buy?

The 2014 Ford Focus is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SE, Titanium.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, but it comes with rear drum brakes rather than the 4-wheel discs found on higher trims, so it makes the most sense if your priority is keeping purchase price down.
• SE: This is the trim most shoppers should start with because it balances cost and equipment better than the base model, while avoiding some of the Titanium’s more expensive extras.
• Titanium: This is the best-value trim if you want the most complete package, including the upgraded audio and tech features, stronger braking hardware, and the most polished feel.

The Titanium also gets the strongest safety-related hardware in this lineup, while S and SE are the trims where you’ll notice the biggest feature gaps.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Focus?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 27.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,179 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.73% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $6,793, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Ford Focus's resale value?

The current average of $6,895 sits slightly below last year's $7,016.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may be steadier if you buy well and keep the car in strong condition. The biggest factor working against long-term value is the transmission reputation, so a clean service record matters.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Ford Focus safe?

The 2014 Ford Focus earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover tests and five-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave it its highest rating of Good in all tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Seven airbags come standard, including a driver’s knee airbag. The safety notes also point out that braking performance varies by trim, with S and SE using rear drum brakes while other trims get 4-wheel discs. That means the safety story is strong overall, but trim choice still affects hardware.

Should I buy a 2014 Ford Focus or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 27.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.73% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 Focus combines a polished chassis with strong safety scores and a fresh-feeling redesign.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $7,485, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $6,895 average.
• It offers a more sophisticated feel and a wider range of configurations.

The bottom line: If you want the lower price and strong safety/value mix, the 2014 is the better starting point. If you’re willing to spend more for a slightly more refined and flexible version, the 2015 is the secondary path.

How does the 2014 Ford Focus compare to the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze?

Our experts score the 2014 Ford Focus 7.7/10 and the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze 7.5/10.

The Focus has the edge in expert score, stronger safety results, and a more engaging chassis. The Cruze is cheaper on average and has slightly more listings, but the Focus offers more power and a better accident-free share. If you care most about driving feel and safety, the Focus is the stronger pick; if price is your top priority, the Cruze is worth a look.
