Used 2016 Ford Focus for Sale nearSan Bernardino, CA

How much does the 2016 Ford Focus cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 1,174 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2016 Ford Focus a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 4.6/5 user-rated car with an expert score of 7.3/10. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the smooth ride, great fuel economy, and sporty handling. They also like the modern features and say the car feels reliable. In practical terms, that lines up well with the Focus’s role as everyday transportation that still feels more refined than many rivals.

Good and great deals account for 27.6% of listings, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2016 Ford Focus reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a car that feels reliable and dependable, with many owners saying it’s a model they can count on. The expert drive notes also emphasize its practical, everyday transportation mission and its strong fuel economy, which supports the case for steady ownership.

Ford’s Sync system adds to the car’s everyday usability, and the available Cold Weather Package includes heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, heated mirrors, and all-weather floor mats.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that some cars may have been affected by the transmission concerns and responsiveness complaints owners mention.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Ford Focus?

At 60.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, alignment, and signs of prior repair. Because owner feedback mentions gearshift smoothness and engine responsiveness concerns, it’s smart to test the car in stop-and-go traffic and on the highway. Focus on how the car drives, how the transmission behaves, and whether the cabin electronics and controls work cleanly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes S, SE, and Titanium, and the base trim is the one most likely to leave you wanting more equipment. The SE is the better everyday pick because it balances value and usability, while the Titanium adds more standard equipment.
• Powertrain: The standard engine is a 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder with 160 hp and 146 lb-ft of torque, and there is also a 1.0-liter EcoBoost three-cylinder turbo with 123 hp and 125 lb-ft of torque. The 2.0-liter automatic setup is the most popular, while the 1.0-liter manual is the efficiency play.
• Safety package: The backup camera includes virtual guidelines that turn with the wheel, and parking sensors are available. The wide-angle side mirrors are a standout feature because they help reduce blind spots.
• Infotainment: The screen is small, but Ford’s Sync system gives you voice control for the stereo and a Bluetooth-paired smartphone. The main screen is still the weak point, especially if you want easier menu navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.0-liter automatic returns 27 mpg city, 40 highway, and 31 combined. The 1.0-liter automatic tester returns 28/40/32 combined, and the 1.0-liter manual can reach 42 mpg highway.

Which 2016 Ford Focus trim should I buy?

The 2016 Ford Focus is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SE, Titanium.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, but it’s the trim most likely to feel stripped down compared with the others. It makes sense only if your priority is the lowest possible starting price.
• SE: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the balance of equipment, usability, and everyday livability that the Focus does best. It’s also the trim the data points to most often as the smart choice.
• Titanium: This is the most upscale standard Focus trim, and it’s the one to choose if you want the most equipment and the most polished feel in the lineup.

The safety content highlights the backup camera, parking sensors, and wide-angle side mirrors as useful features to look for.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Ford Focus?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on a strong listing.

• Deal availability: 27.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,174 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $8,057, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Ford Focus's resale value?

The current average of $8,375 sits slightly above last year's $8,316.

That small increase suggests the market has stayed stable rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For you, that means the Focus has shown enough pricing consistency to avoid looking volatile, which is helpful if you plan to sell later. It also suggests buyers still see value in the car’s mix of practicality and refinement.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Ford Focus safe?

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety content emphasizes practical visibility aids more than advanced driver-assistance tech. The backup camera includes virtual guidelines, parking sensors are available, and the wide-angle side mirrors are a standout because they help reduce blind spots. The main caveat is that the screen is small, which makes the camera less convenient to use than it could be.

Should I buy a 2016 Ford Focus or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 27.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2016 refresh gives the Focus a more polished feel while keeping its practical mission intact.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $7,485, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $8,375 average.
• It offers a more sophisticated driving feel than many shoppers expect.

The bottom line: If you want the newer, more polished version with stable pricing and solid owner satisfaction, the 2016 is the better default choice. If your main goal is saving money upfront, the 2015 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers the Focus’s core strengths.

How does the 2016 Ford Focus compare to the 2016 Honda Civic?

Our experts score the 2016 Ford Focus 7.3/10 and the 2016 Honda Civic 8/10. The Civic is the stronger overall pick, but the Focus is the cheaper used buy by a wide margin. You’re trading some refinement and efficiency for lower purchase price and a more accessible market.

The Focus offers a more affordable average used price and a larger share of accident-free listings, while the Civic brings better fuel economy and a stronger expert score. If you want the better value on paper, the Focus is compelling; if you want the more polished all-around compact car, the Civic has the edge.
