How much does the 2014 Ford Explorer cost?

Prices have softened 5.47% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,862 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2014 Ford Explorer a good car?

Yes — the 4.5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its comfort, space, and performance, and many also like its stylish design and value for money. For you, that makes it a sensible fit if you want a family-oriented midsize SUV with a practical, well-equipped feel. With 28.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Ford Explorer reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a vehicle that can be dependable when maintained well, with praise centered on comfort and everyday usability. At the same time, some owners mention maintenance costs and concerns on higher-mileage examples, so long-term ownership risk is best managed by focusing on service history and condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Ford Explorer?

At 63.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on body condition, alignment, and signs of uneven wear, since those can reveal past accident or repair issues. It also makes sense to focus on maintenance records and overall mechanical condition, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Explorer?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,862 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.47% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $9,321, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $9,379 sits slightly below last year's $9,922.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. If you plan to resell later, the softer current pricing means your upside may be more limited unless you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition. Demand should still be supported by the model’s broad appeal, especially among shoppers looking for comfort, space, and value.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2014 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.47% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line:

The 2014 is a good choice if you want a well-equipped, comfort-focused Explorer and you can verify condition carefully. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and prioritize the cleanest, best-documented example rather than chasing the lowest sticker price alone.
