overall

Summary
With 50 currently listed for sale near Fort Worth, TX and an average price of $9,831, 8.0% of 2014 Dodge Chargers for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2014 Dodge Charger 4.78 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.33 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2014 Dodge Charger stands out by blending a bold, retro-inspired presence with a more sophisticated character than its styling might suggest. It makes a strong first impression as a large, muscular sedan, yet the source also notes that it is far more sophisticated than its retro shell may convey. That combination gives it a distinctive appeal for buyers who want something with attitude but not just surface-level style.
Performance is another major part of its identity. The 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 is described as an award-winning powerplant, and it moves the 3,964-pound Charger quite quickly. The same source says the V6 Charger reaches 0-60 in 6.5 seconds, which helps explain why it feels lively despite its size. At the same time, it is noted as not quite as powerful as the V8-powered R/T and SRT variants, so buyers looking at this version should understand that its strengths are more about balanced speed and everyday usability than maximum muscle.
Owners also tend to praise the 2014 Dodge Charger for its strong engine and smooth ride, and features such as the sunroof, heated seats, and Beats audio are recurring favorites. A common drawback mentioned is fuel economy, which some reviewers see as a downside.

I purchased a 2014 RT Plus AWD Charger with 67,000 miles. It required one $800 repair to a part of the engine performed expertly by AAMCO (forget about bringing it to the dealership to be repaired; youll only be ripped off.) The car served me very well until an accident at 82,000 miles without any other repairs. Ive seen Chargers for sale with up to 152,000 miles and still going. Its a great car if you can find one starting around the 70,000/80,000 mile range or less!

The car has great low mileage. The baby has some nicks and scratches, but nothing surprising for a 2014. The engine and undercarriage looks like show room material. After searching different web sites, I found this one to be the best value. It would be nice to have a sun roof, but I am pleased with its features. I would compare the 8 speed to a mustang or camaro.

Great car! I had the 2014 r/t All wheel drive. If I had it to do over, I never would’ve gotten rid of it. The only thing I was going to do is get leather done on the seats. Car always ran great and was very fun to drive.

The Charger’s large-sedan practicality and bold styling make it appealing if you want a daily driver with attitude rather than a plain commuter.
With 23.6% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2014 Dodge Charger reliable?
Owners rate it 4.78/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Reviewers repeatedly describe the Charger as strong, smooth, and enjoyable to live with, which points to a car that can feel dependable over time when maintained well. The expert drive notes also emphasize the V6’s balanced performance and the car’s sophisticated character, which supports the idea that it can be a solid long-term choice.
If you buy used, your biggest ownership risk is likely tied to condition and maintenance history rather than the car’s basic appeal.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Dodge Charger?
At 50.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had prior body damage or shows signs of heavy use. Focus on overall condition, because the Charger’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been kept up. Pay close attention to electronics, ride quality, and any warning-system behavior during the test drive.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The SE includes standard LED taillights, a power 6-way driver’s seat, remote keyless entry, three power accessory outlets, and a USB audio auxiliary jack, while the SXT adds more equipment and a more upscale feel. The SXT is the better-value choice if you want the strongest mix of style and features without jumping to V8 pricing.
- Powertrain: The base V6 with an 8-speed automatic is described as surprisingly quick, and the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 reaches 0-60 in 6.5 seconds. If you want more muscle, the R/T and SRT V8s add serious power, but they also bring a fuel penalty.
- Safety package: Available driver-assistance features include lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision avoidance, and rear cross-path warning. The backup camera is also highlighted for its large, crisp display.
- Infotainment: The available Uconnect system is presented as easy to use, and the Charger can connect to a smartphone’s music library via Bluetooth. The available Beats By Dre stereo is part of the appeal, though the satellite receiver is criticized.
- Fuel efficiency: The base rear-wheel-drive V6 with the 5-speed automatic returns 18 mpg city and 27 highway, while V6 models with the 8-speed automatic improve to 19/31. The all-wheel-drive SXT with the 8-speed automatic is estimated at 18/27.
Which 2014 Dodge Charger trim should I buy?
The 2014 Dodge Charger is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SXT, R/T, SRT.
Here's the short version:
- SE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Charger’s core style along with standard LED taillights, a power 6-way driver’s seat, remote keyless entry, three power accessory outlets, and a USB audio auxiliary jack. It makes sense if you want the look and basic functionality at the lowest price.
- SXT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds a more complete feature set and was the test vehicle’s configuration. It keeps the V6’s quick, usable performance while giving you a more satisfying everyday experience than the base model.
- R/T: Choose this if you want the 5.7-liter V8 and the stronger performance that comes with it. It is the step up for buyers who care more about power than efficiency.
- SRT: This is the top performance choice, with the 6.4-liter V8 and the most expensive starting price. It suits you if maximum muscle is the priority.
The safety content highlights available lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision avoidance, and rear cross-path warning, so check whether the specific trim you’re considering includes the driver-assistance features you want.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Dodge Charger?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 23.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 518 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.08% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 50.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $10,420, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Dodge Charger's resale value?
The current average of $10,617 sits slightly below last year's $11,304.
That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make future resale more sensitive to mileage, condition, and equipment. If you buy well and keep the car clean, you may be able to limit depreciation better than the average listing. If you overpay now, though, the softer pricing trend could make it harder to recover your money later.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.78/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2014 Dodge Charger safe?
The Charger earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
It comes with standard airbags and traction control, and the safety suite also includes lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision avoidance, and rear cross-path warning. The backup camera is a standout, with a large, crisp display that makes it especially useful in tight spaces.
One caveat is that the forward-collision warning can be oversensitive, so you should test the system carefully during your drive. The car’s size also adds a sense of security, but you should still verify that all driver-assistance features work properly on the specific used example you’re considering.
Should I buy a 2014 Dodge Charger or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 23.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 50.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.08% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.78/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2014 combines bold styling with a quick V6 and available advanced safety tech.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $12,951, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $10,617 average.
- It brings a sleeker front, a brighter rear end, and a more aggressive look.
The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2014 is the smarter buy because it offers strong owner satisfaction, a lower average price, and a healthy amount of inventory. If you’re willing to pay more for updated styling and a slightly fresher feel, the 2015 is the better alternative.
