For 2009, the Acadia gets a direct-injection version of its 3.6-liter DOHC V8 engine, boosting horsepower to 288 and torque to 270 lb-ft. The extra power is needed, but still feels inadequate to move this 4,700-pound truck. Other new features for 2009 include standard Bluetooth and satellite radio with real-time traffic for all trims. The SLT trims get more options, such as a rearview camera, heated and cooled front seats, and OnStar with Turn-by-Turn navigation. Available in SLE, SLT-1, and SLT-2 trims, the 2009 Acadia comes in either front-wheel or intelligent all-wheel drive. Though the biggest complaints focus on poor gas mileage and difficult maneuverability, the 2009 Acadia's interior comfort and space, combined with a surprisingly smooth and quiet ride and reliable safety ratings, keep it a strong competitor in its field.
