The V-6 can only be paired with the automatic. Fuel efficiency is 21/29 mpg for the V-6, and 25/34 mpg with the four. Expectations of the Solara as a true sport coupe may lead to some disappointment. Toyota has excelled at blending a variety of desirable features like safety, comfort, reliability, and refinement into all of its cars, and the Solara is no different. However, lackluster performance has steadily been the most common complaint from drivers.
