The 2021 Honda Accord Hybrid stands out as a standard-bearer in the midsize sedan segment, and Honda’s freshening for this year is aimed at keeping it near the top of its class. I had an identical Honda Accord Hybrid that was totaled when someone ran into me so I was in the market for a car just like it, since it was the best car I have ever had. And yes, an excellent value. These models have held their value better than almost any other car.

I bought this Accord hybrid because I trust Honda quality and the hybrid version was overall in my opinion superior to the other 2 makes that I was considering. So far I am happy with it, while I am recognizing a small compromises I had to make. Lets hope it will be as reliable as I expect it to be.

Is the 2021 Honda Accord Hybrid a good car?
Generally — the 2021 Honda Accord Hybrid earns a 4.25/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Form and function.
The data points to a midsize sedan that stays near the top of its class by blending stylish design, fuel efficiency, and spaciousness. It is aimed at you if you want a family-sized four-door that still feels polished and practical, even as many shoppers move toward crossovers.
The main trade-offs are clear: all-wheel drive is not available, and the technology is described as outdated. Honda also notes that the hybrid powertrain can produce some droning under hard acceleration, even though the overall driving experience is strong.
Good and great deals percentage: 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
Is the 2021 Honda Accord Hybrid reliable?
Owners rate it 4.25/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The overview and expert notes frame this as a well-rounded hybrid with strong everyday usability, and the powertrain is described as refined for 2021 with improved throttle response and a more natural sound and feel. The hybrid system is also presented as sophisticated but easy to live with, which matters when you are evaluating long-term ownership.
Honda’s hybrid setup uses a two-motor system with an electric drive motor and an eCVT-style arrangement, and the expert notes say it delivers effortlessly good fuel economy. The cost-effectiveness notes also suggest the car is a short list of flaws overall, which supports the idea that it should be manageable to own if you keep up with routine maintenance.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the core hybrid hardware and more about whether the car has been maintained and whether its tech and convenience features still suit your needs.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Honda Accord Hybrid?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free status is only one part of the picture. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the hybrid system, braking behavior, and any signs of uneven wear or prior bodywork. You should also pay close attention to how the cabin electronics, driver-assistance features, and infotainment system operate in real-world use.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base version gets the 8-inch touchscreen and standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but the higher trims add more convenience and polish. The cabin is described as upscale overall, though the rear door trim is a noted weak point.
- Powertrain: The hybrid system pairs a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with electric drive hardware for 212 horsepower and 232 pound-feet of torque. Most trims return 48 mpg in combined driving, while Touring is rated at 43 mpg because of its larger wheels and tires.
- Safety package: Honda Sensing is the driver-assistance suite, and it includes refinements to adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist. The car also includes a rear-seat reminder and rear seatbelt reminder system, while Touring adds low-speed braking control.
- Infotainment: The standard system uses an 8-inch touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included on EX trim, wireless smartphone charging is standard on EX and higher, and Touring adds navigation, HondaLink subscription services, and a WiFi hotspot.
- Fuel efficiency: Most trims are rated at 48 mpg combined, and Touring is rated at 43 mpg combined. The expert notes also say the Touring averaged 42.8 mpg in testing.
Which 2021 Honda Accord Hybrid trim should I buy?
The 2021 Honda Accord Hybrid is offered in 4 trim levels: standard, EX, EX-L, and Touring.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: This is the most straightforward way to get into the hybrid, but it lacks the extra convenience and tech upgrades found higher up the range. It still gets the standard touchscreen and smartphone integration, but you give up some of the nicer features.
- Sweet-spot trim: EX is the best value if you want the biggest step up in everyday usability. It adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, and rear-seat quick-charge USB ports.
- Premium/top trim: Touring is the most fully equipped version, with navigation, HondaLink subscription services, and a WiFi hotspot. It also gets the larger 19-inch wheels and the most upscale presentation.
- Off-road trim: Not applicable here.
Honda Sensing is standard, and the safety updates for 2021 include redesigned LED headlights that are standard across the lineup, with full LED units from EX trim up.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Honda Accord Hybrid?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.
- Deal availability: 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 614 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.80% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 75.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $21,857.80, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Honda Accord Hybrid's resale value?
The current average of $23,185 sits slightly below last year's $24,354.
That price movement suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now if you plan to keep the car for several years. For a future seller, the softer current pricing means there may be less immediate upside than in a rising market, but it also signals that the model is still trading in a healthy, established range.
Because the Accord Hybrid is positioned as a practical, efficient, and well-regarded midsize sedan, it should remain appealing to used shoppers who value those traits. Strong demand for a polished hybrid sedan can help support resale value over time, especially if the car is clean and well maintained.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.25/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Honda Accord Hybrid safe?
The 2021 Accord was aiming for a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS after Honda redesigned the LED headlights for this model year. Honda Sensing is the standard driver-assistance suite, and it includes refinements to adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist, plus a rear-seat reminder and rear seatbelt reminder system.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
The safety package is broad for the class, and Touring adds low-speed braking control that can help prevent parking bumps. The expert notes also point out that the system can feel a bit intrusive, and the low-speed automatic braking may react too aggressively in some situations.
Should I buy a 2021 Honda Accord Hybrid or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.80% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.25/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- Honda updated the headlights, infotainment availability, and safety equipment for this year.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $21,955, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $23,185 average.
- It emphasizes efficiency and value with a straightforward hybrid package.
The bottom line: If you want the more updated version with improved lighting, broader standard tech, and stronger safety equipment, the 2021 is the better target. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2020 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers the core hybrid strengths you want.
