Overview

The LS 430 was offered with only minimal changes in 2003. The flagship sedan received 17-inch wheels, growing an inch larger than before. Also, options like climate control front seats and park-assist were pulled out of expensive luxury option packages and made available as individual add-ons. More significant updates would follow in 2004. The LS 430 was equipped with the same 4.3 liter aluminum block V-8, which generated 290 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque. The LS made 0-60 in about 6 seconds and turned the quarter mile in just under 15. Despite being very fast off the line and also through the higher gears, the LS 430 did not offer the nimble and agile feel of some European competitors. The LS was designed to be a smooth and stable highway cruiser, and that it was. The ride was further enhanced by a smooth shifting five-speed electronically controlled transmission, and a variable air suspension system. By now the LS series had an impeccable reputation for quality, craftsmanship, and reliability. New drivers were not disappointed, and many claimed that the LS was the quietest car they had ever driven. Features like adaptive cruise control, power door closers, the Mark Levinson system, and GPS also received much acclaim. Aside from less than thrilling road manners, the LS was criticized for a lack of driver assurance on slick roads due to RWD, and complex controls that were difficult to manage while driving.

NO dislikes about this car. Plenty of interior leg room for any body type. Daily driver, so must get around in the weather in Nebraska all year round. Does a good job. Will keep buying Lexus as my main car.

Nothing to dislike. All good. 28/30 mpg hwy 19/20 city. What more can you ask for? Change oil every 5,000 miles. Tires every 50,000 miles. Scheduled maintenance as instructed. Never owned a car as dependable as the Lexus LS 430.
