by Jill Ciminillo

As the full-size sedan segment dwindles, the 2026 Lexus LS makes its last hurrah with a Heritage Edition in its final model year. Launched in 1990, the LS has been the flagship sedan for the automaker in the U.S. for 36 years, competing with class heavyweights like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series, and Audi A8. For 2026, the LS comes in a single trim with a single specification: the LS 500 AWD Heritage Edition. There will only be 250 units available.

2026 Lexus LS Preview - summary

What’s New for the 2026 Lexus LS

As this is the last model year for the Lexus LS, there’s not a lot new on this model. The Heritage Edition is monospec, with Ninety Noir black paint and an LS-first Rioja Red interior. There are no options, color choices, or packages available, though there are a number of accessories, like dash cams and floor mats, that can be added to the purchase.

Design

The 2026 Lexus LS sports the automaker's iconic and highly recognizable spindle grille, with its pinched nose and woven design. It has bright chrome exterior accents and 20-inch alloy wheels with a dark gray metallic finish. There are no styling or appearance packages available on this 250-unit model year.

Powertrain

“Out with a bang” seems to be the 2026 Lexus LS motto, as this model is equipped only with the 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 that delivers 416 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. The zero-to-60-mph time is 4.6 seconds. There is no hybrid available in this limited-run year. The 2026 LS 500 is all-wheel-drive (AWD) only, and it should average 17 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. Premium fuel is required.

2026 Lexus LS Preview - interior

Interior

In addition to the Rioja Red interior, you’ll see Lexus LS Heritage Edition badging on the center console and embroidered on the headrests. For a distinctly luxurious look and feel, interior accents include a Laser Special Black premium wood and ultrasuede trim on the headliner. A panoramic glass roof is standard. The 2026 LS seats five passengers, and trunk capacity is 16.95 cubic feet.

Technology

Though the 2026 Lexus LS is the last of the line, it doesn’t scrimp on technology. It has a full digital gauge cluster as well as a 12.3-inch touchscreen with the Lexus Interface infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The 2026 LS has a number of subscription-based connected features, including cloud navigation, an intelligent assistant, and the ability to use your phone as a key. Other tech features you’ll see include a head-up display, wireless phone charger, a Mark Levinson 23-speaker Reference Surround Sound System with QuantumLogic Immersion, and a 360-degree camera.

Safety

The 2026 Lexus LS comes standard with the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, which includes standard safety features such as automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, road-sign assist, lane-departure alert, lane-trace assist, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control. Other standard safety features include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and park assist.

Pricing and Release Date

The 2026 Lexus LS 500 AWD Heritage Edition arrives in dealerships in late 2025. As a monospec model, the 2026 LS is a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get), and the price on the consumer website at the time of this writing is $99,280. Without options or packages, this is likely the price you’ll pay unless you’d like to add dealer-installed pet, people, or cargo accessories.
