The 2000 Camry Solara did not change much from the previous year, when it was newly introduced to the market. The biggest change was the introduction of a convertible.
The 2000 Camry Solara came in two trim levels: the base SE and the well-appointed SLE. The SE comes standard with a 2.2 liter, four-cylinder engine, and the SLE comes standard with a V6, 3.0-liter engine. Unlike its competitors the Honda Accord and the Chrysler Sebring, the 2000 Camry Solara was available with a five-speed manual transmission with the V6 engine. Fuel economy is about 20 to 30 miles per gallon.

Its platform is shared with the lexus 300 so is a quality unit ,, Even up here in salty Maine its held up well.mine is 20 + years old with 221000 miles on it ,,engine trans alternator ps all the electrical components [except the jbl radio] have never failed ,,,,Normal chassis running gear has been replaced. The engine is nick named the anvil motor for good reason, as the hold up incredibly will if oiled properly ,,they [normally ]consume a little oil.. and sound like a sewing machine when idling but thats normal for these guys ,,, They are no doubt one of the best vehicals that could be bought those early years.

Love this car! Acceleration is great. Car is solid and well built. Interior styling and comfort is perfect but could use a bit better stereo. Gas mileage is surprisingly great for a V6 and maintenance is easy to perform. I drive 2 hours to and from work on the 4-lane highway, this car makes the drive relaxing, comfortable and safe.
