We have a 96 XLT with a 4 Liter engine. Great camping vehicle for outdoor people. Haul bikes on the rack or inside for security. Space inside for two people to sleep if the seats are removed. Plenty of ground clearance without having a SUV. We added a limited slip differential which has been nice in Colorado. Down sides are 14 tires are hard to find. Might get 15 rims for more tire options. Access to engine is difficult and Ebay will be your parts store for many items. Its a lower cost option to a metris.

Ford should not have discontinued the manufacture of the Aerostar van with its clean looks, durable 3.0 and 4.0 Liter V6 engines, rear wheel drive, 4x8 load capacity, and fuel economy that is still competitive with todays slicker but more maintenance-prone minivan alternatives. Bring it back with dual sliding side doors and an optional dual-door tail gate for contractors and families.
