About 1982 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
Overview

The 1982 Monte Carlo featured few external changes from the 1981 model, yet the engines showed several changes, including the elimination of the turbo-charged V6. In addition, the Landau trim was no longer available.
The base engine remained a 229-ci V6 rated at 110 horsepower. The new optional engine for the V6 was a 262-ci diesel rated at only 85 horsepower. The Monte Carlo was once considered a muscle car, and the optional diesel engine seemed to be a radical step in the wrong direction for some.
Those looking for a little more power could opt for the 267-ci V8 rated at 115 horsepower or the 305-ci V8 rated at 150 horsepower. A diesel engine was available for the V8 as well, a 350-ci rated at 105 horses.
Despite the smaller engines for the time, these cars can be tuned today to sit lower and ride faster. Many aftermarket parts are available.

This car started out as a bone stock Monte Carlo LS with a 3.8 litre V-6, since I have owned this car it has had the 3.8 removed and in its place now sits a 468 big block chevy. The engine has a full edelbrock top end and forged internals. The original engine was a squealing mess, it made so many different noises. The new engine makes no noises except for the roar coming out the back. (The Exhaust). Overall I am pleased with this project, I still have under $2500 in the whole build. Minus the big block

Thgis 82 monte has the 229 V6 and gets 25 mpg. Performs very nice, interior is perfect. Has not been restored! Does have new valve covers, air cleaner (Holley) plugs, plug wires, distributor and rotary cap. Straight piped, sounds good!

It was also bought new in 1982, we tested it when I was back in school and it runs great, my Dad and I took it to Michigan, it did fine, and it is a great car for any classic car collecter.

Not a big fan of the stock rims, stock motor or the paint, But it wasnt a bad buy. Cheap project. Something to play around with. Overall though i think it will be a nice car one of these days when ive got the money to put into it.
