The 1980 Impala welcomed in what would later be known as a decade of excess with many reductions: a lower, slightly shorter front end and curvier back reduced drag and cut car weight by over 100 pounds.
The engines were streamlined as well. A new 229-ci V6 rated at 115 horsepower was now standard, while a 267-ci V8 rated at 120 horsepower and a 305-ci V8 rated at 155 horsepower were optional.
The fuel economy for this car was estimated at 18 city and 26 highway, which was the best ever by a full-size Chevrolet.

Hard to say exactly what year it was. I made it out of three different cars. Strong 350 motor. No two doors were the same colour. Ran great for two years.

Many moons ago I had a great car. And the Chevy Impala was that great car. The handling the great, it ran great, and it looked good. It had been recalled due to issues of tires and pressure. Something simple regarding tire pressure recommendations. Regardless I did put super sixties on the car. Wider tires all around that would have been expected. Improved the ride greatly. AT the time of ownership this car was the easiest to care for, as it was you could do it yourself. With the wide tires, and decent suspension, it wasn't as fun a car to drive as it was the most pleasant drive I ever did own.
