2025 Lexus RZ Pricing, Specs, and Release Date

by Chris Teague

Lexus and its parent company Toyota were slow to jump into the electric-vehicle (EV) market, but both finally came around in 2023 with the release of the Toyota bZ4X and the Lexus RZ. Now three years into its time on sale, the RZ isn’t radically different than the SUV we first saw in 2023, though Lexus has issued updates to keep it competitive.

2025 Lexus RZ Preview - summary

What’s New for the 2025 Lexus RZ

The RZ’s only update for 2025 was the introduction of new entry-level trims for the SUV’s two main configurations, the RZ 300e and RZ450e.

Design

The RZ borrows some design elements from other Lexus models, including its oversized grille. It’s available with a few wheel choices, and some configurations are available with two-tone paint. Some also come with black wheel arches and dark exterior trim pieces.

Powertrain

The 2025 RZ comes standard with a single-motor powertrain, making 201 horsepower and 196 pound-feet of torque. A dual-motor variant is available, with 308 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque. Acceleration lands at five seconds for a zero-60 run in the dual-motor variant and around 7.5 seconds for the single-motor. The base front-wheel-drive (FWD) model offers 266 miles of range, and the all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant offers 220 miles. Optional wheel choices cut into those range estimates. Charging takes around 9.5 hours to go from zero to 80 percent on a Level 2 charger, which decreases to a little over half an hour on a DC fast charger.

While it’s not exceedingly quick, the RZ offers a smooth ride quality and is pleasantly quiet in most driving situations. It’s not as agile as many probably hope, but the payoff is luxury-level smoothness.

2025 Lexus RZ Preview - interior

Interior

The RZ seats five people on standard synthetic leather. Other standard features include heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, power-adjustable front seats, and more. Available features include synthetic suede upholstery, heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, and memory settings. The RZ’s cabin is spacious and upscale, offering solid headroom and legroom for back-seat passengers. It’s also a visually appealing space, with pleasant design and nice materials throughout.

Technology

Lexus equips the 2025 RZ with a 14-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM radio, multiple USB ports, dual-zone climate controls, and a panoramic sunroof. The automaker’s recent infotainment system updates have made the interface less distracting and much easier to use while driving, and the new, brighter look is nicer to look at.

Safety

The new RZ hasn’t received full crash testing by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) yet, but it comes standard with a long list of advanced driver-assistance tech. The list includes blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beams, safe-exit warning, a rearview camera, lane-keep assist, traffic-sign recognition, intersection turning assist, and more.
