What’s New for the 2025 BMW 2 Series

For the 2025 model year, all 2 Series trims now come standard with BMW’s latest iDrive 8.5 system, featuring a large curved display. The car also gains an updated ambient cabin lighting system, and this year sees the introduction of the new M Sport Professional Package (separate from the M Sport Package). This includes M Shadow Line lights, a black M rear spoiler, M Sport brakes, and red or blue brake calipers.

Design

The front-end design of the 2025 BMW 2 Series is anchored by BMW’s signature twin-kidney grille, flanked by sleek headlights. The 2 Series lineup includes the 230i, 230i xDrive, and the sporty M240i xDrive. The base 230i features 18-inch wheels, while the M240i comes with 19-inch options and other visual upgrades.

Powertrain

The 2025 BMW 230i is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine that produces 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The upgraded M240i xDrive features a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, delivering 382 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) is standard on the 230i. An xDrive all-wheel drive (AWD) system is optional on the 230i and standard on the M240i.

The 230i accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in about 5.5 seconds, while the M240i cuts that down to 4.1 seconds.

The 230i returns fuel economy of 26 mpg city, 35 mpg highway, and 29 mpg combined for the RWD model. AWD brings fuel economy to 25 mpg city, 33 mpg highway, and 28 mpg combined. The M240i returns 23 mpg city, 32 mpg highway, and 26 mpg combined. The 2 Series requires premium fuel.
