The GMC Sierra EV is an all-new vehicle for the 2024 model year.
Design
The 2024 GMC Sierra EV draws influence from the bold and muscular design language of other GMC trucks. It features an imposing grille and sleek LED headlights. Where it departs from its conventionally powered counterparts is its more aerodynamic overall shape.
The Sierra EV comes with two critical features to help with its versatility. The first is GM's MutliPro tailgate, which has multiple configurations, including a large step-up. The other is a folding midgate, which allows the rear wall to fold away, expanding the rear bed over the second-row seats. These features are standard on all versions of the Sierra EV.
Powertrain
The 2024 Sierra EV is powered by dual electric motors, in an all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup. In the Sierra EV Edition 1, the pair makes a combined 754 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque. According to GM, the truck will sprint from zero to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds. A large-capacity battery pack offers an estimated range of 440 miles on a single charge, depending on driving conditions and load.
The Sierra EV supports fast charging, and drivers can add up to 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes of charging at a 350-kW station. The truck is engineered to handle heavy-duty tasks, with a towing capacity of around 10,000 pounds and a payload capacity of about 1,500 pounds. Specs for the entry-level version and other potential models have not been announced as of this writing.
Interior
The Sierra EV comes standard with cloth upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, and multiple in-cabin storage solutions. It's available with leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, a power sunroof, remote start, a heated steering wheel, and adjustable pedals.
Technology
A large 13.4-inch touchscreen infotainment display comes standard on the 2024 Sierra EV, serving as the central control panel for media and vehicle settings. It features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Sierra EV also comes with a Wi-Fi hotspot and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. It is also available with navigation, a wireless charging pad, and a 12-speaker Bose premium sound system.
Safety
The 2024 Sierra EV comes equipped with a comprehensive array of standard and optional safety features. Standard safety equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and blind-spot monitoring. It is also available with the Super Cruise partially autonomous highway-driving system.
Pricing and Release Date
At the time of this writing, the 2024 GMC Sierra EV starts at a base MSRP of around $55,000. It will first be offered in the upgraded Edition 1 trim, which goes on sale this summer and starts at more than $100,000. It should be noted that only models priced below $80,000 will qualify for EV tax credits. The Sierra EV is backed by an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty for the battery components.
