2006 ford e-250 engine starter
Check to make sure the starter is not loose and the bolts are tight.
Right about the bolts, but if they are too loose the starter just won't work. These seem to have cronic bushing problems in the starter nose, does it sound like a dry ronk noise, if it does then it is a bushing going out so just replace the starter, it will be cheaper than trying to fix the one that is on there.
Thank you,for the quick response . I replaced the starter motor with a remy starter motor. The starter motors from discount auto parts store are junk & made in china. The flywheel teeth where missing 75 % on 4 teeth. The engine starts for now,but is a little noisy, because of the missing teeth on the flywheel. Hopeful I can get 1-2 years from the chewed up flywheel ,before i buy a new van.
They do make a file for bad ring gear teeth, file off the sharp edges and put a small angle on them, not a cure put it will make the starter drive last longer, did it to my old 454 ring gear, it was still that way when I sold the truck.
