Fuel pump

I have a 1990 Ford F-150 4x4 xlt lariat and I’m
currently trying to replace the fuel pump in the front
tank in which I had to buy another fuel tank due to
the original one being rusted and it’s a 16 gallon gas
tank and my fuel pump will not fit in the tank and I
can’t find a fuel pump that will fit in that truck. The
pump is to long and the only way it sort of fits is if
the fuel pump is leaning and it’s supposed to be
standing straight up from what my mechanic told
me. Can anyone help me find the right fuel pump I
need for that truck thank you

Did you purchase an aftermarket tank of the exact same size as the original equipment?

Yea I went to advance auto and bought a 16 gallon tank same exact size as the one that was originally on the truck

Well, if the fuel pump from the old tank does not fit, and hits the bottom, obviously there is a difference in the internal dimension.

I might have been sold the wrong fuel pump maybe I got a fuel pump for a 19 gallon fuel tank instead of of a 16 gallon

And I’ve tried figuring out how to flush the gas lines out but can’t seem to find out how to I need to do that ASAP
