Question type: Maintenance & Repair

This gem was driving fine. Took it to the store and
when I came out, I went to start it and nothing. A
friendly passerby helped me think through and
diagnose the problem. Not the battery, seemed like
the starter wasn't the culprit, he thought the ignition
switch. After getting the wrong one, and contorting
to get the old one off, replaced with brand spanking
new one. Went to start again..,same result! Now
what?

I believe there is a small wire down on the starter solenoid. Unplug it, looks like a plugin connector, and test to see if power is going threw that wire with like a test light, while someone is turning the key to the start position. There should be power at that small wire. If there is not power at that wire while the key is in the start position, then it could be a clutch safety switch, or the neutral safety switch, and if there is power on that wire, then indications are the problem is in the starter. Try tapping on the starter with a hammer, and see if it will work also.
