2021 Toyota SiennaReview

The 2021 Toyota Sienna Hybrid is a fabulous vehicle! The ride is comfortable, it handles well, is easy to park and has great visuals with good back up camera. It is well equipped with every convenient and safety feature. Even the color is great! My ONLY complaint is that the price of this used car is much higher than the original new sale price. I know vehicles are scarce (due to the fallout of the Covid lockdown and computer chip unavailability), but it does seem that these vehicles are outrageously priced. There are people who can afford to pay thousands over the MSRP new price for a used vehicle, but it does seem unreasonable even now. |

Third row not fully folding into the floor and latching is inexcusable. The units we looked at had the third row bounce up and out of the stored position which is unacceptable and a shocking oversight given how much re-engineering was done to improve the effort required to store the third row seats. Apparently the latching or locking performance has still not been worked out - a BIG miss. Additionally the fit and finish of the seating is uncharacteristic of typical Toyota quality. Voids in seat padding and wrinkles on many seams were surprising. Hopefully these are just first year model issues and they will be corrected soon. Rear view camera resolution is the worst of the three mini vans including , Pacifica and Odyssey. Desirable options such as 360 camera and heads up display are strategically placed only the the highest level trim Platinum model. Some of these options should at least be an option on lower levels as opposed to only making them available for thousands more in the top trim level. In Canadian models these options are actually available in the Limited trim. If you drive the vehicle conservatively the drive ability and engine noise is acceptable or even quite at times. However during heavy acceleration or up hills the engine can be quite loud. Perhaps better sound insulation would help. The ride is outstanding on the non-XSE models. The XSE however does have a sportier ride and can be quite jittery especially at high speed. The XSE does handle better but be sure to test drive non-XSE models as well to compare. Finally the XSE we drove had an odd whistling wind noise that appeared to come from the front windshield. After researching the internet and asking our salesman he said that there might be an issue with wind noise on some XSEs. One wonders if the different front end design has changed the wind flow over the vehicle and it is creating the noise. Overall the Sienna Hybrid is the smartest long term play and value given the direction of fuel prices. The Sienna is future proofing value but there are a few kinks that still need to be worked out. I will wait for the next model year hoping the issues listed above are corrected. |

We like the features of this car and would have purchased one, but the passenger seat only moves 4 ways! No up and down, no tilt. The seat was uncomfortable for the passenger just taking a test drive a short distance. Couldn’t imagine riding in this car for hours! |
