New Jeeps Are Fantastic — Price Looks Style Features Ride Handling 4x4 All of the above make this vehicle a real winer. This is my first Jeep and I am loving it. I would buy another if I needed an SUV and 4x4 all in one. Primary Use: Family transportation Pros: For what you get the price of the GC is very good. You can get it totally loaded up like with most vehicles and that will increase the cost substantially. I you just need a 4x4 that is nicely equipped the Grand Cherokee is quite reasonable. Cons: The stock radio is horrible. I replaced it with an aftermarket within a few months. Not so much the sound but the features and operation are bad. ![]() Looking for a Used Grand Cherokee in your area?CarGurus has 45,487 nationwide Grand Cherokee listings starting at $2,450. |

Just A Great Vehicle — Performance is good, and that includes HP. Brakes Torque. Interior is very compfortable and I have been on 12 hour trips and did not get tired sitting in seat, and ride is very comfortable. Gas mileage was pretty good at an average of 24 mpg on a 800 mile ride. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: Too many gadgets and options to mention in one paragraph Cons: So far, nothing bad about it |

First New Car I've Bought — I love this car. It's the first new car I've bought, and after doing about 9months of research I settled on this one. The interior is great. It's very comfortable and feels well made. I love (as do my passengers) the heated rear seats. The in dash media center is great as well. I've put about 8GBs of music on it, and it's as simple as putting in a CD or USB thumb drive, and hitting the "copy" button. No more lugging CDs around for me! I've had no problems in the month I've had it so far. I commute to work every day, about 20mins city and 20mins freeway, and at last fill up, I was getting 23.3 MPG. That's actually better MPG than my old 1996 Acura would get. Slapped some Goodyear Wrangler tires and MB TKO wheels and went up to the Cascade mountains. Handled like a dream. The traction control barely even had to kick in and when it did, I still felt completely in control. Couldn't be happier! UPDATE! My check engine light came on and it coded out as a simple emissions leak. I have an appointment to get it taken care of next week. UPDATE TO THE UPDATE! I think it was just a loose gas cap. I tightened it back on, and after a few days the CEL went out. I cancelled the appointment and everything is running fine. Still loving this rig! Primary Use: Family transportation Pros: Better than advertised MPG, Looks great, handles really well for an SUV Cons: V6 does seem to lack power at times, in the higher gears |

12 Month Update: Worst Vehicle Ever!!! — I was first attracted to the Grand Cherokee because it has similar styling to the BMW X5, especially from the rear. After learning about all of the standard features on the Overland model I had to see it. My mother was ready to trade in her 2007 BMW X5 and is very picky about what she drives. She was overwhelmed with everything the Jeep had to offer, and couldn't get over how improved the ride with QuadraLift (air suspension) was. She bought her Grand Cherokee Overland 4x4 one month to the day before I bought mine. We are now a Jeep family again. 12 month update: after so many unsuccessful trips to the dealership, and calls to Chrysler I cannot recommend the Jeep brand to anyone. Jeep should not be selling a $45,000 vehicle of they can't stand behind their product. The service at their "5 Star Dealerships" is unacceptable. This is the worst of the 25 vehicles I have owned, including my MINI Cooper that needed at new engine after 51,000 miles. Search YouTube for Jeep Grand Cherokee Elk test. Primary Use: Commuting to work
Pros:
Loaded with more options than are available on most SUVs as standard on the Overland.
Cons:
transmission computer was replaced on day 2 with 112 miles on the odometer. |

Great value for the money, however ride is not on par with a German counterpart. Stiffer springs and shocks fixed this for me. Steering still a bit light, but liveable. vs2012 BMW X5 xDrive35d AWD

Handling
Ranked 2012 BMW X5 xDrive35d AWD better.
"X5 is based on BMW 5 series car chassis. Much better platform to start with. Jeep is built for comfort and off-road ability which means a very soft suspension. Great for bumps, not great for 80mph cruising with confidence." |
