2011 Subaru Legacy Trims and Specs

The 2011 Subaru Legacy 2.5i is the entry-level trim for this four-door sedan, but it is not a stripped-down version used only to lower the bottom-line price. The 2.5i is powered by a 2.5-liter, 16-valve, horizontally opposed four cylinder (170 horsepower, 170 lb-ft torque) that is mated to a fully synchronized six-speed manual transmission (19 city/27 highway mpg). There’s also an option for a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that improves fuel efficiency to 23/31 mpg. The 2.5i comes standard with Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, Vehicle Dynamics Control, traction control, speed-sensing power steering and four-wheel antilock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution.

Standard interior features for the 2.5i include air conditioning, cruise control, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, steering-wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls, electronic parking brake, six-way manually adjustable driver’s seat, four-way manual passenger seat, 60/40-split flat-folding rear seatback, cloth upholstery and a four-speaker stereo with single CD, auxiliary input jack and MP3/WMA/AAC playback capability. Exterior features include keyless entry, 16-inch steel wheels with 205/60 R16 91V all-season tires, projector-beam headlights, black folding side mirrors and an antitheft security system.

The 2011 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Premium adds about $1,000 to the price of the entry-level 2.5i and adds a few standard features as well as more options. The 2.5i Premium's standard upgrades are a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, auto up/down for the driver’s window, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, body-color side mirrors, chrome exhaust and 16-inch, eight-spoke aluminum alloy wheels with 205/60 R16 91V all-season tires. The two additional options packages are the winter (heated seats, heated mirrors, windshield wiper de-icer) and audio (440-watt, 9-speaker Harman Kardon stereo with 6-CD in-dash changer, amplifier, subwoofer, MP3/WMA playback ability, XM satellite radio and Bluetooth capability).

The entry-level six-cylinder trim, the 2011 Subaru Legacy 3.6R comes with a 3.6-liter, 24-valve, horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine (256 horsepower, 247 lb-ft of torque) that is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission with manual mode, paddle shifters and downshift rev-matching. The 3.6R gets 18 city/25 highway mpg and comes standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, traction control, Vehicle Dynamics Control, speed-sensing power steering and four-wheel antilock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution.

The 3.6R exterior features body-color mirrors, dual chrome exhaust, projector-beam headlights and 17-inch, 10-spoke aluminum alloy wheels with 225/50 R17 93V all-season tires. The interior highlights include cruise control, air conditioning, a six-way manually adjustable driver’s seat, four-way manual passenger seat, cloth upholstery, 60/40-split flat-folding rear seatback, tilt/telescoping steering wheel with audio and cruise controls, electronic parking brake, auto up/down for the driver’s window and a four-speaker stereo with CD, auxiliary audio jack and MP3/WMA/AAC playback capability.

Unlike the other 2.5i trims, the 2011 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Limited comes standard with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and the 23 city/31 highway mpg it delivers when paired with the 2.5-liter, 170-horsepower, horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine. The 2.5i Limited also makes significant upgrades from the 2.5i Premium's interior, with standard heated front seats, a four-way power passenger seat, digital dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery, woodgrain-patterned trim and a 440-watt, 9-speaker Harman Kardon stereo with 6-CD in-dash changer, amplifier, subwoofer, MP3/WMA playback ability and XM satellite radio. The 2.5i Limited exterior upgrades include heated mirrors, windshield wiper de-icer and 17-inch, 10-spoke aluminum alloy wheels with 215/50 R17 90V all-season tires. The 2.5i Limited also offers an optional voice-activated navigation system with 8-inch touch screen, Bluetooth and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror with HomeLink.

The 2011 Subaru Legacy 3.6R Premium shares powertrain, performance, exterior and interior features with the 3.6R with just a few upgrades. The 3.6R Premium adds heated front seats, heated mirrors, windshield wiper de-icer, a 10-way power driver’s seat and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. It also adds options for a power moonroof and a 440-watt, 9-speaker Harman Kardon stereo with 6-CD in-dash changer, amplifier, subwoofer, MP3/WMA playback ability and XM satellite radio.

The 2011 Subaru Legacy 3.6R Limited shares all powertrain, performance and exterior features with the 3.6R Premium and adds a few touches to the interior. The 3.6R Limited's upgrades are a four-way power passenger seat, leather-trimmed upholstery, woodgrain-patterned accent trim, Bluetooth capability and a 440-watt, 9-speaker Harman Kardon stereo with 6-CD in-dash changer, amplifier, subwoofer, MP3/WMA playback ability and XM satellite radio. The 3.6R Limited also has options for a voice-activated navigation system with 8-inch touch screen, Bluetooth and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror with HomeLink.

The lineup's high-performance trim, the 2011 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT Limited is powered by a 2.5-liter, intercooled, turbocharged, 16-valve, horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine with Active Valve Control System that churns out 265 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 258 lb-ft of torque at 2,000 - 5,200 rpm. The turbocharged four is mated to a fully synchronized six-speed manual transmission, gets 18 city/25 highway mpg, and requires premium gasoline (93 octane). Like all the other Legacy trims, the 2.5GT Limited comes standard with Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, Vehicle Dynamics Control, traction control, speed-sensing power steering and four-wheel antilock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution.

The 2.5GT Limited shares interior and exterior features with the 2.5i Limited and adds foglights, a hood scoop, power moonroof, dual chrome exhaust, leather-wrapped shift handle, carbon-fiber-patterned accent trim and aluminum alloy pedal covers.
