Great Commuter Car With A Little Head Turning Added. — Love this car! No car is perfect, but this one came close. It is great to own a car associated with such a reliable and dedicated brand. VW has made a great vehicle here, one that is fun to drive, doesn't break the bank, and is highly customization. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: Great summer car, fun to drive, throttle response is good although a little Turbo Lag. NO Maintenance aside from Brakes and Tires, oil changes. Bucket seats in the front hold you tight, and plaid print comes standard on the seats. Cons: Little cargo space, limited room in back seat, yet more room than most 2 doors. Pocket Rocket — A true pocket rocket, this car is so much fun to drive and I love listening to the engines "purr". This car zips easily around turns and accelerates...FAST! I only wish I could trust someone other than the VW dealer to service this car. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: I absolutely love my GTI, lots of power and handles exceptionally well. I thoroughly enjoy driving my GTI. Cons: Not fun to drive in a lot of stop and go traffic. Maintenance costs can run high. |

Would Love To Take It On The Track — I understand that there is an after market chip that you can purchase to add speed and other neat go-fast options to the GTI. I would love to have those mods done and take it on a track for a few laps to see how well this care can handle under extreme handling conditions. Pros: This is the 1st 6 speed manual I've ever driven and their is power to spare Cons: Road noise, and cargo rattle started after the 2nd year of ownership. Road noise from the tires is attributed to the low profile tires |

Great Value & Daily Driver. Solid German Hatchback — Great daily driver! Great handling, slight turbo lag but consistent torque & power. Have wanted one for years & it finally happened! Highway mpg up to 34mpg, life mpg at 27. Had a 08 rabbit before this GTI and it's just as solid, just redefined & sporty! Love it Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: Great value & daily driver. Solid German hatchback Cons: Premium gas helps, little extra cost but better MPG as a result. |

Thanks Thanks Thanks — the acceleration is fast the brakes are good because i drive fast with it and when i stop it really stops quickly i really like the handling it doesn't need no repairs they call me drift king I am rich and i have lots of money there's not even a scratch none of squeaking and rattles the car is fun to drive its in sport and i will never sell this car. Primary Use: Family transportation Pros: its fun and its hot inside it keeps you warm at any time its FANTASTIC Cons: its just crazy bumbastic |

Best Car Ive Owned, Other Than My Vw Rabbit Project — its a VW not the best performance, but way better interior than any honda and most other cars, chip this biotch and it easily takes on most other boy racerish cars. definitely the best all around car you can buy. just go read car and drivers article comparing the VW GTI with 9 other cars in the same price range. Best Value For Money In Class!! — Performance not the best in class but still VERY good considdering that some of the competition is 2.5 and 2.3 litre engines. Build quality is excellent as you can expect from all VW's! Appearance is very sporty yet stylish and classy! Cost of ownership is ok... it is a bit thristy but still best in class. Fun To Drive — Accelerates quickly, really does do 0-100km/h in 6 seconds. Handle very well around smooth corners but can be jumpy. The braking is not so good at high speeds. it looks beautiful both inside and outside. if you put pedal to the medal it will eat up a lot of gas. Overall the car is very fun to drive, its responsive, very fast and sends shivers down your spine. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: Fast, Responsive, Crazy. Cons: Brakes are a bit problematic |
