Love My V-dubya! — After looking over the rest of the bunch in this class, the TDI offers the best value, and highest performance for the buck. VW touts 47mpg HWY, and 30 City. I've had it just about 30 days now, and with 1,200 miles clocked, the avg. mpg continues to improve daily from the current 33.4 (a/p the read-out). with 236Lbs Feet of Torque, she's peppy enough to keep up with traffic, and make the moves needed on the road. Highly reccomended!

Lots Of Fun To Drive And Great Mileage Too! — The mileage we've been getting has been fantastic! We took a trip to New Hampshire, 3 1/2 hours, and got 46.7 miles/gal. Around here (combination in-town & highway driving), I've been getting about 40 m/g. The turbo gives it lots of pickup when I need it, which is one of the reasons I was hesitant about buying a highbred. I consider this a safety feature when merging with traffic on a highway entrance ramp and other situations where I need to quickly get out of someone's way. It is surprisingly quiet for a diesel. My husband is particularly sensitive to car and road noise and he is as enthusiatic as I am about the car.

2009 Tdi 6spd — 47 mpg from the all new 50 State Clean Diesel. It was named Green Car of the year over all the hybrids and the "Smart" Car. The car handles great, performance is great for a Diesel. The interior is much more refined than previous models.

Pros: TDI, high mpgs

Cons: Nothing

Jetta Rules — I would say its the best compact sedan in the world. I am ex owner of Civic 2008 and 2006 CR-V and my circle of friends have corolla. All my folks feel great about Jetta. Jetta is a class of its own

Pros: Performance, Comfort, sporty, Safety and Durability

Cons: Leather seat is not a standard in SE

Love It! — I previously drove a 2000 VW Jetta VR6, with having the power of the VR6 I was skeptical the new 5 cylinder engine would be sufficient to the power I am used to. I was pleasantly surprised! Still has the great handling, the smooth transition between gears, more space than my previous Jetta, and stylish too!

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Great space, Great MPG, Great style, Great german engineering.

Cons: Cloth Interior, but even that isn't horrible!

Great Gas Saver! — handles well, is well made, absolutely no problems so far. Considered a Prius, but this is much more fun to drive. We have driven this Jetta from FL. to NM twice, and found it to be very comfortable. Really good sound system. Fabulous DSG transmission. I have recently taken this car on a two lane road with a lot of fast sweepers. This car handles amazing well. Brakes are excellent too. (I used have a Boxster S, and was a Porsche Club track driving instructor for over ten years). Local dealer suggested I replace timing belt @ 82K. Manual says 120K. Another customer with the identical car said VW would "stand behind" a timing belt failure that occurred before the recommended mileage. Service manager seemed to confirm this. I have mostly cleared up my scratched headlights with a Mother's powerball kit. It took about 2 hours. You could probably get it done professionally with less effort.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: great gas mileage. Very comfortable ride. Really good sound system. Fabulous DSG transmission.

Cons: DSG trans needed a $300 oil and filter change @ 50K.  I figure I have have saved over $3400 in fuel costs vs. my old Acura , which averaged 21mpg.

Fantastic Car! — I really enjoyed owning this car! The look and comfort are great and the fuel milage on the highway averaged between 500 and 600 miles per tank. I plan on buying another Jetta TDI as soon as I find the one I want! I travel a lot for my work so I tend to put miles on my cars. Another nice thing about this car is that as long as it's maintained properly, high miles aren't a problem.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: It is a great car. It handles very nicely, the fuel mileage is out of this world! It is styalish and comfortable as well.

Cons: It is a little expensive to repair, but what foreign car isn't. The fuel savings more that makes up for the repair expense.

I Would By Another '05-'09 Jetta In A Heartbeat. —

After 7 months and about 12,000 miles, I am very pleased with my TDI. The 2.0 TDI has not left me wanting for power; I appreciate that it has 236 lb. ft. of torque. The engine clatters a bit on a cold start-up, but is otherwise refined. I have never had to wait more than 3 seconds for the glow plugs to cycle. Fuel economy has been outstanding. I mainly use the car to commute, and have averaged about 43.5 MPG to date. In town, I average 40-42, while on the highway I've routinely averaged 45-48 MPG. My best average to date, for one trip, has been 49.6 MPG. That's pretty damn impressive. The build quality of the Jetta is superior to every other car in its class (indeed, it's better than some vehicles that cost much more). The solid "slam" of the doors is reassuring and gives the car a substantial feel. The soft-touch surfaces on the dash and door panels are outstanding and would not be out of place in a car that costs $10k more. As with all VW cars...service is expensive. However, I have not had problems to date and do not anticipate any. I bought the car because I needed something efficient for my 80 mile (round- trip) commute. The car has certainly delivered on the promise of impressive fuel-efficiency. I am very disappointed that VW chose to cheapen (quite drastically) the interior of the 2011 Jetta. I will not be replacing my '09 with a next-gen Jetta.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Diesel fuel efficiency, diesel torque, outstanding interior build quality, impressive safety features.

Cons: Maintenance costs.
