Family Sedan With A Little Bit Of Sport Sedan — Was looking to purchase a nissan murano and a friend recommended a test drive of a Subaru. Boy was I surprised. I was not even considering a subaru but does this thing ever handle. It may be smaller than a Camry or Accord but the 4 cyl power plant provides good acceleration and really quiet interior. The front of the car could look better but the side profile and the rear of the car make it look a lot more expensive than the sticker. SE package puts in Harmon Kardon sound system, power sun/moon roof and Power adjustable drivers seat. Lot more car for the $$$.

Pros: Sharp handeling, All Wheel Drive, Excellent list of safety features. Good looks, decent trunk room

Cons: Front passenger legroom feels shorter than drivers legroom. Rear Legroom could be an inch or two longer.

Pleasant Surprise — I thought that going from a really fast car to one with 170 hp would be tough. It wasn't though due to the overall balance and driving dynamics of the Subaru. I love having the security of Subaru's symetrical all wheel drive and the five speed makes it fun to drive. MPG has been great so far, I'm averaging 30mpg with mixed driving. The quality of the interior is top notch and the lines of the car are seductive. My first Subaru but certainly not my last!

Pros: Roominess, confort, driving dynamics, H/K sound

Cons: Not the fastest car on the street

It's A Beast — This car is a beast. it can handle anything thrown it's way. it has saved my life numerous times. closing in on 40k miles, this monster of a car is still standing strong. solid and healthy enough for 40k more. *UPDATE 8/2/2012*: 51k miles *UPDATE 11/28/2012*: 58k miles *UPDATE 1/26/13*: 61k miles

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: it has guts that most other cars wouldn't.

Cons: it's not manual, and it's not a turbo

2009 Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT Limited Review

This is an excellent car. Its like the Swiss Army Knife of vehicles. Its safe, reliable, it handles really well, its surprisingly quick, and itchiness in foul weather. This car is just a joy to drive. I go out in snow storms for fun now that I have this. I put Blizzaks on it, and its unstoppable on snow and ice. Ive never been able to get it stuck, and Ive tried as it has become a game to test the limits of what this car can do. I live in the city and drive it in I mode most of the time. I mode provides a smooth ride with smooth transmission shifts. S mode is where I put it if I need to pass someone on the freeway. In this mode it provides enough boost for almost any passing situation. In S# mode, it becomes a different beast altogether, and behaves like a race car. The back seats are small, and an adult over 6 tall will have lot so trouble fitting back there. However, the front seats are wonderful. Theyre the most comfortable seats Ive ever had in a vehicle. Kids could fit in the back seat just fine. Even with car seats. Adults are a different story, though. The suspension is stiff compared to most sedans, but thats the cost of good handling. Most sedans cant do what this car does. It runs on premium gasoline which can add up if you go into boost or drive in S# a lot. You can also drive it pretty sedately if you want. Its got power and heated everything, so thats nice in our 5-month-long winters. It even melts the ice off your wiper blades. This car is also very safe. Ive never felt so well-planted on the road. I highly recommend this vehicle to anyone living in a place with a harsh climate, but who also wants to be able to have some fun with their car. This one doesnt scream Im a race car like the WRX and some of those other cars, but its of the same pedigree. I love this car!

Power Ranked 1997 Dodge Intrepid ES FWD worse.
"The Subaru is almost 2 seconds quicker to 60 mph. It also tops out at a higher speed. Its a faster car all the way around. The Subaru has more power and torque in a smaller, lighter frame."
Handling Ranked 1997 Dodge Intrepid ES FWD worse.
"Because it does. The suspension, lower center of gravity, and AWD lend it to better handling. Its actually far superior."
Looks/Style Ranked 1997 Dodge Intrepid ES FWD worse.
"I like how it sits like its ready to pounce at any time. "
Front Seats Ranked 1997 Dodge Intrepid ES FWD worse.
"The Subarus are heavily bolstered leather seats that practically pull you into them, and they keep you there snugly. Theyre more comfortable. And, theyre also heated in the Subaru, which is a plus. Also, the instruments and buttons are laid out better in the Subaru."
Back Seats Ranked 1997 Dodge Intrepid ES FWD better.
"The Intrepid has much more room in the back seats with ample head and leg room for large adults."
Cargo Capacity Ranked 1997 Dodge Intrepid ES FWD better.
"I could fit my 4X12 guitar amplifier cabinet in the back seat of the Intrepid. I cant put it anywhere in my Legacy."
Family Car Ranked 1997 Dodge Intrepid ES FWD better.
"It has more room for passengers and cargo."
Value Ranked 1997 Dodge Intrepid ES FWD worse.
"Its loaded with all kinds of options not available on the intrepid. Prominent are the winter-beating options; heated mirrors, heated wipers, heated seats. Its got a better factory stereo system. Its also AWD. The intrepid is FWD."
Would Buy Ranked 1997 Dodge Intrepid ES FWD worse.
"Its a better car for me. I like a quick, practically utilitarian vehicle that handles like a BMW and is also a monster in the snow and ice. If I was more concerned about space and passengers, then maybe the Intrepid is a better choice because it has a lot more room. But, I have no kids, and I dont have many passengers. The trunk and back seat are large enough to hold camping equipment and luggage for two adults on a road trip for four weeks. Thats plenty for me. Plus, its a far more fun car to drive. "
