Great For The Money! — The gear ratio on the manual transmission is lacking in the 5th gear, going up the mountain, i am constantly shifting between 4th and 5th. Gas mileage is awesome. I have had the rear reclining seat button pop out more than a dozen times, and the puddle lights are temperamental in regards to when they want to work.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Great handling.

Cons: Stereo only goes up to 40.  Hard to listen to my ipod at full blast.  the head rests are not "pony tail" friendly

Good — i liked the size, the space in the back, the turbo perfomance. i did not like the noise inside the car, louder than normal, the tire replacement issues adn the warranty is short except of course the powertrain is long enough

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: great handling in snow and rain! Decent mileage, large sunroof, turbo is really helpful living at 7200 feet

Cons: all tires have to be replace if only one is damaged.

Love It, Would Buy Another — This car can plow through anything. From snow to mud to a stormy day. With AWD and and automatic with Sport-shift it makes this car a gem in the snow with the hill/mtns I have to encounter I love it!

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Safe,AWD, airbags everywhere

Cons: Foot heater needs improvement

Attractive, Comfortable, Safe, Good In All Kinds Of Weather — Great car to drive, lots of room for a stationwagon/SUV. Love the comfortable leather seats and large moon roof. Great resale value! Gas mileage in the 20s which is decent. Very attractive interior and exterior styling. Not happy with the "pinging" after turning the car off. Was told by the service department that it is just cooling down. It does it even if I travel only a mile or so. I have never had any vehicle sound like that.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Good gas mileage, really hugs the road with the all wheel drive.

Cons: Makes "pinging" noise after you turn it off. It is rather loud and lasts a few minutes

Lots Of Value And Fun And Reliability For The $ — Great fun to drive. Very quick, handles real well. Big upgrade over earlier Forster model. More comfortable and quieter. As always, Subaru reliable. This is our second Forester and besides brakes and tires, and regular oil changes, never has an issue.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Fun to drive

Cons: If you want a large SUV Forster is small

Toning Down The "sporty Notch" Certainly Paid Off For This Subaru. — Subaru's move to make the Forester more mainstream paid off. Though it's softer and less of a sharp handler than before, it easily makes it up for it with better interior room and cargo space. Though it's basically an Impreza with a crossover body, the Forester suffers from much more "body flex" because of the large standard moon roof.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: An excellent performer for a compact crossover, comfortable ride.

Cons: There's a lot of body flex due to standard moon roof.

Controlled Performance — Probably one of the most versitile SUV's on the road. The 2009 Subaru forester has everyhing. Performance, safety, great off road capability and plenty of space for the family. Has the heart of a WRX but none of the "boy racer" appeal. A perfect combinaion.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: The performance

Cons: It's heavy

Like Driving A Tank — It's larger than I first thought, and eats lots of gas. I hope it will be a very good winter driving car for all weather conditions.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: seems to make the driver more cofient

Cons: eats lots of gas

Can't Beat It For The Price. Great Vehicle! — Great gas mileage, adequate acceleration, handles great. Would have been nice to have the turbo model and/or an extra gear in the automatic... a 5-speed auto or a manual would be much nicer. Very inexpensive to own, so far. This car does everything I need it to, and is fun to drive. Plus, my wife loves it!

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: perfect size, decent performance, great features

Cons: Might need a little more power... and an extra grear.

Overall the forester locked ok. The problem I hade was the engine. It sounded totally worn out with only 80 5oo km on it. Looks like bad maintenance by the previous owner. Not worth the money. Read More
