Write a reviewAccording to some reports, 2008 will be the last year for the Pontiac Vibe. Developed in conjunction with Toyota and sharing its basic elements, including its engine and interior features, with the Toyota Matrix, the Vibe offers drivers a value-oriented five-door vehicle with the characteristics of a small SUV or wagon.
The Vibe won't break any speed records with its 1.8-liter, 130-horsepower, double-overhead-cam four-cylinder engine. On the plus side, the Vibe gets good gas mileage, in the neighborhood of 30 mpg around town and 36 mpg on the open road. The engine links to a standard five-speed manual transmission or an optional four-speed automatic.
The Vibe, which comes in a single Base trim, offers plenty of cargo space and a variety of seating configurations, thanks to a passenger seat that folds flat and a 60/40 split fold-down rear bench seat. Interior features include air conditioning, chrome-accented instrument gauges, a tire pressure monitoring system, a 110-volt power outlet, and a four-speaker AM/FM stereo system with a CD player.
Options for the Pontiac Vibe include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a keyless entry system, power door locks, XM satellite radio, and a power sunroof.

Not great for a long trip, due to the size. MPG and build quality are great. For a compact I liked the looks and it is actually kind of fun to drive.
As far as smaller cars you can count on this is all of that. I bought a 100,000 mile warranty and tires and oil is all I needed.Dec 20, 2012

I enjoyed driving this car except when all seats were being used, then it felt like it was too small. This car would make a great student car or work car because of it good combined city/highway gas mileage.Jun 23, 2012

Pretty decent car, kind of small engine though, and doesn't handle very well in mud or snow. Really great gas mileage, averages around 32 to 33 most of the time. Love the sun roof. Great car for cost, very fun to drive. Dec 27, 2009

The engine is very noisy and buzzy. The seat comfort is top notch with plenty of legroom even for rear seat passengers. Acceleration is only adequate and handling is not crisp, but adequate for most routine manuevers. Build quality is impressive.May 23, 2008

Serpintine belt?
My 2008 Pontiac Vibe is kaput. The power steering is gone, the a/c is gone, when I accelerate after braking, there is a squealing sound, and, to top it off, the battery light and check engine light are both on. Am I right to believe this is the serpentine belt that is missing?

Why won't '08 Vibe start?
'08 Vibe wouldn't start. All I heard was a humming sound or a clicking sound. After a while no sound. That was yesterday. Two days ago the radio changed stations when I restarted the car after running an errand. That happened a few times. Clock also failed to keep proper time.This morning the car started after two attempts. About six months ago I went through the same thing on three successive starts. After that no problem until yesterday. Six months ago I brought car to a mechanic who could find nothing wrong. The battery is one year old, and, as stated above, worked just fine today.

I have a 2008 Pontiac vibe I was at a stop sign when my car stalls and it will not start.
The Engine sounds like it wants to start but it just doesn't get there. This has happened before and after pushing the car off to the side of the road it started. The car has a lot of miles on it and normally drives like a champ.
