In 2007, the Toyota Solara coupe and convertible undergo a mid-generation styling update, but the changes here are not as significant as with its sister Camry sedan. The Solara is the reincarnation of the unpopular Camry Coupe, sold in the mid-1990s. Both cars share a platform and several mechanical attributes, but the coupe's unique styling sets it apart. Visible differences include a creased side, sleeker roofline, and a more aggressive-looking front end.
The SE models are available with either a 2.4 liter inline four or a larger V-6. This model houses the 3.3 liter V-6, which produces 210 horsepower and 220 pound-feet of torque. The VVT-i engine is mated to a five speed automatic transmission. A manual is not offered with the V-6, but a manual shift gate is included. The 3200 pound coupe achieves a strong EPA rating of 21/29 mpg.
The SE badge denotes the base level trim, but even this model is considerably well-appointed. Keyless entry, a CD audio system, full power features, and cruise control all come standard. Options include a JBL audio upgrade with an in-dash CD changer, power seats, a moon roof, and Bluetooth.

Of the eleven Solara variations available in 2007, this model will offer the best performance. The Solara Sport combines a more powerful V-6 with a special sport enhancement package. The Sport trim includes a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, firmer suspension, xenon HID headlights, 17 inch wheels, and an aerodynamic body kit with a rear spoiler.
Three years into the Solara's second generation, Toyota will freshen the exterior styling and add to the standard and optional features lists. The most observable change is a redesigned front end with a new grille and headlights. Standard features include power windows and door locks, air conditioning, cruise control, and keyless entry. All Solara models are front wheel drive, and all non-convertible coupes offer seating for five.
This Sport will utilize the larger Solara engine: a 3.3 liter DOHC V-6, which provides 210 horsepower and 220 pound-feet of torque. The V-6 is paired with a five speed electronically controlled automatic as the only transmission option. This engine is also supported by Toyota's Variable Valve Timing + intelligence technology, which squeezes out more engine power, while reducing emissions and improving fuel economy. The Solara Sport V-6 is good for 21 mpg in the city and 29 on the highway.

There are eleven variations of the Toyota Solara for 2007, formed through a variety of engine, transmission, trim level, and body style configurations. This top tier model incorporates the V-6 engine and the luxurious SLE trim. All Solara models receive minor styling updates this year, as well as the addition of several new standard and optional features. A redesigned front end with a new grille and new headlamps is perhaps the most noticeable exterior alteration.
The Solara line is priced comparably to the Camry, with most models falling in the $20,000 to $30,000 range. Interior design and build quality are commensurate with the price. Standard features on all models include air conditioning, power windows and door locks, keyless entry, and cruise control. The SLE adds leather seating, automatic climate control, a power driver's seat, wood trim, Bluetooth, and a premium JBL audio system with an in-dash CD changer. A voice-activated navigation system is available with the SLE Solara.
The top shelf Solara SLE is powered by a 3.3 liter DOHC V-6, which generates 210 horsepower and 220 pound-feet of torque. All SLE models feature an electronically controlled five speed automatic transmission, mated to the VVT-i engine. The 3200 pound FWD coupe has an EPA rating of 21/29 mpg.

The 2007 Solara family does not receive the same thorough overall as Camry, but exterior styling is revised and new features are added. Both the front and rear ends receive styling revisions, and new HID xenon headlights are optional. Inside, an MP3 and satellite radio-capable sound system is new. The Convertible may also be fitted with a new wheel design.
The Solara Convertible is available in three trim levels, and SE is the base finish. Standard features include keyless entry, power windows and door locks, cruise control, and CD sound system. SE models are not eligible for many options of the higher level trims. A navigation system is not offered here.
All convertibles are powered by the same engine: a 3.3 liter VVT-i V-6. This power plant provides 210 horsepower and 220 pound-feet of torque. It is only available with a five speed automatic transmission, but a manual shifter is included. The EPA estimate for the V-6 is 21/29 mpg.
The Solara Convertible loses one rear seat in order to accommodate the wrap-around tonneau cover. All tops are power-operated, folding and unfolding in about ten seconds. Rear seat leg room is pinched by the coupe layout, but the front buckets offer plenty of room for even larger drivers and passengers.

The Toyota Solara shares a platform with the tremendously popular Camry sedan, but offers Toyota enthusiasts a mid-size coupe or convertible. While the Camry undergoes a complete overhaul for 2007, the Solara receives only minor minor styling revisions. Several new features have also been added. A new standard audio system includes MP3 CD and satellite radio compatibility, and connectivity for portable devices. Toyota also adds to the already long list of standard safety features: a tire pressure monitoring system and side curtain airbags are now included.
The addition of the Sport trim creates the most performance-focused Solara. This model includes standard features like power windows and door locks, keyless entry, CD audio system and cruise control. The Sport badge signifies the addition of 17 inch wheels, a special exterior body kit, xenon headlights, leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and a tighten suspension. The Sport is also set apart by a special gauge layout and graphite interior trim. Due to the retractable roof, the Solara includes only two rear seats.
Despite a performance-geared trim, power plant and transmission are the same here as on any other Solara Convertible. A 3.3 liter V-6 provides 210 horsepower and 220 pound-feet of torque, and is mated to a five speed automatic transmission with a manual shifter. Drivers have reported better road-responsiveness with the Sport package, but overall performance improvements are marginal. Even the V-6 Solaras are very fuel efficient, with an EPA rating of 21/29 mpg.

This coupe concept was born from Camry in the early 1990s, and reinvented as the Solara in 1999. The coupe shares the same platform as the Camry, but styling departures are significant, especially with the convertible. The grille, headlights, and foglamps have all been revised for 2007. Several new options are also available on this higher level trim. All Solaras are unchanged mechanically for the new model year.
The upscale SLE trim adds several standard features to the already well-appointed Solara. All models include power windows and locks, keyless entry, and cruise control. The SLE offers leather seating, a power driver's seat, a premium JBL audi system with an in-dash CD changer, wood trim, and Bluetooth. The SLE is only model to which a navigation system may be added.
The Solara Convertible is only offered with the V-6 engine mated to a five speed automatic transmission. The 3.3 liter V-6 produces 210 horsepower and 220 pound-feet of torque. It is enhanced by Toyota's acclaimed Variable Valve Timing + intelligence technology, which provides better horsepower, while lowering emissions and improving fuel economy. The EPA rating for this engine is 21/29 mpg. The electronically controlled automatic transmission also features a manual shift gate.
