A Mixed Review For A Mixed Car... — This was a great car.... MINE wasn't. It was deemed a Lemon after being in the shop for 35 days. The engine bulkhead was leaking, electric problems galore, water/mold problems everywhere....it was a nightmare. We refer to it as "DAMIEN" Pros: Ride, Acceleration, Handling Cons: TOO MUCH. ![]() Looking for a Used Passat in your area?CarGurus has 5,437 nationwide Passat listings starting at $1,002. |

Passat 1.9tdi — Fantastic car. It only has 105bhp but delivers it surprisingly well. Off the line it keeps up the best of them and even though it is a diesel it sounds pretty sweet. The build quality is of the usual Germanic standard and will still be as tight and surefooted in years to come as it is now. Has some pretty cool tricks and toys on it even though it is the entry level model, like: The boot and electric windows can be operated from the remote fob which looks pretty trick when you are standing away from the car. The handbrake is electric! It is just a button on the dashboard so the space in between the seats is purely for the gearstick and storage compartments. Even better, it automatically releases itself when you move away so no need to rev the nuts off it when doing hill starts. Pros: Looks more expensive than it is, real road presence Cons: The speakers are a bit crap but adequate |

Good Looks, Power, Features For A Price Thats Hard To Match. — Parents car. Being a german car, the Passat of course has a ton of features you just won't find on other cars in its class. Love the 2.0T and even the DSG transmission. Prefer the manual, but its still pretty impressive. Love the blue and red dash light combo! The Dynaudio system is great, but unfortunately ours did not come with the aux input. This would be the only major flaw in a time where all cars are starting to adopt this feature for mp3 players. Good interior space, and a HUGE trunk. She feels a little long sometimes, but drives very smooth and stable. I'm not huge on the whole safety thing, but she has a ton of safety features. Pros: Good looks inside and out, great features for the price, fast for its weight and class, great audio system, very safe and reliable. Cons: A little portly, DSG is still a automatic to me and just can't keep me from wanting a manual, maint. costs can be pricey, the rear shelf behind the back seats can be a real pain to keep clean because of its material. |

Best Family Sedan Around — Love this car. Handles great, very positive driver input. Steering is very true and positive. Seats are comfortable for long trips. Acceleration is great when the turbo kicks in. No issues passing. Drives like it's barely breathing at 75 mph all day. Great family sedan with split rear seats that fold down to provide plenty of storage space for those occasional trips to Home Depot. Primary Use: Family transportation Pros: Very reliable, no major issues. Nice ride and love the Sirius radio. Cons: Volkswagen parts can be a bit pricey if you need to replace original equipment |

Good Family Car — Great car, overall. Performance, fuel economy., reliability, good looks all the things you want in a moderately priced car. It's holding up well. I just hit 130K. The turbo really gives the car the legs it needs when it's called for. I love the manual mode shifting. Some of the features like the automatic brake hold are great when you're on a "snail trail" in Branson with the family. Primary Use: Family transportation Pros: Repairs have been minimal. Major repairs were under warranty. I've probably spent 1800 in repairs and maintenance in the last two years; the timing belt and water pump maintenance were the biggest part of that. Still feels like a new car, though. Everyone's always amazed at how many miles it's got on it. Cons: Rubberized coating on handles and power option buttons bubbles and comes off. Replaced some under warranty. |

Very Dissapointing!! Great To Drive...when It Was Acutally Going!! — Excellent performance for a family car. Amazing torque!! Even has great acceleration in 6th gear. Mine can slide a wee bit in the wet. Decent fuel economy if driven sensibly. Build quality...mmmm will reserve judgement at the moment. Had a few electrical problems (all seem common on Passat B6) still cant find the annoying rattle from dash! Terrible reliability problems. Lots of poorly finished interior trim. Graphite Blue, 2.0tdi Sport with 18inch alloys....looks good though!!! Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: Fast but frugal, great looking family car!! Cons: Electronic parking brake!!!! Very unreliable. Poor build quality in cabin!! |

My Passat <3 — First off, I have to say this is my favorite car I have owned yet. The acceleration on the car is smooth and quick and if you want to add a little boost, just snap it over into the Tiptronic mode for a little more control on when the transmission shifts. But my favorite thing about the car has to be its styling. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: Pretty much everything! Cons: I would have to say the only thing that sucks about the car is that it did not come with a sunroof even though it has all the other bells and whistles! |
