Not My Favorite — This car is not as spacious as the 2002 Altima I had. And the back seems to ride low, the bottom of the car keeps hitting. I'm not real pleased with it, but it's reliable up to this point. Just kind of boring. I miss my older Altima

Pros: So far it's been reliable

Cons: Boring, not too powerful, not as roomy.

If Only... — I really did like this car, but it was on a lease and I am trying to downsize. Nissan paid off my lease early and gave me cash back to turn it in, so I was a great business deal to send it in early. If I had already owned it I would have kept it.

Pros: V6 3.5, standard, high performance, reliable.

Cons: Issues in snow and No ABS.

A Simple, Plain Car Provided By Nissan That You Will See Wherever You Go. — The Nissan Altima has been in production since 1993. As the car evolved from generation to generation, the overall build quality and features improved, and more altimas were seen on the road. I tested a 2.5 S special edition Altima. There are several trims available. Power comes from a 2.5 liter I4 DOHC 16 valve engine producing 175hp and 180 ft/lbs of torque. A 5 speed automatic gear box with variable valve timing is standard. This is one of the flagship engines that is used in several vehicles by Nissan and Infiniti. The car currently competes with the other mid size, reliable econo-boxes by Honda and Toyota. The 2.5 S special edition is different from the regular 2.5 S in several distinct ways. Such differences include 17 inch rims as opposed to the base hub caps, power driver seat with lumbar support, convenient buttons on the steering wheel to control the radio and cruise control, at trip computer in the dashboard, and of course -- special edition floor mats. The suade/cloth-like upholstry is durable and is stain deffendant. FWD is standard on all Altimas.

Pros: Outstanding fuel economy with the recommended regular gas.  Ride is smooth, acceleration is spirited when all valves are heard.  Cargo room is impressive in both the rear and trunk.  Dashboard and all electronic controls are easy to use.  Air conditioning and heating in the car is outstanding.  Fairly good value.  A car that is perfect for your daily commute. The Altima is a car that defends Nissan's strong reliablity reputation proudly.

Cons: No ABS.  This one issue tends to have consumers thinking twice before purchasing the vehicle.  With this, braking is deffinitely not one of the Altima's strong points.  Overall stability and control in harsh weather conditions could be improved.  The stock Continental tires are among the worst tires of any car in its class.  Most owners tend to get Bridgestone Potenzas after they are tired of their wheels spinning and their car sliding.  As with most front wheel powered cars, torque steer can be felt when briskly accelerating.  Straw-like exhaust tips aren't attractive, but can be inexpensively corrected by screwing aluminum tips on.

Great Baseline Sedan — I picked up a 2006 Nissan Altima 2.5s during a lease clearance at my local Nissan Dealer. I had test drove other cars (Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, etc...) that were similar but I really liked the Nissan. For being a 4 cyl I was very impressed at the speed and acceleration of the car. During the year that I had it (I had to trade it in to get a purchase as I began traveling for work) it treated me very well. I know there was recently a re-call on some cars due to an oil problem but I was personally impressed with how Nissan was handling the issue and appreciated that they extended the warranty and offered a rental while the car was being repaired. I also liked the newer body style as the inside was bigger than previous models and had a very sporty and up-to-date styling.

This little speedster has some serious power. Compared to my SN95 V6, the engine is awesome Although I prefer the American Muscle lifestyle, I have two kids to I had to go an alternative route, while still having power. Nissan’s are good for that, and they last a long time. They can take a beating, that’s for sure.
