Looks Great, But Such A Bad Idea... — "Meh" performance (from the higher power version!), horrendous fuel consumption, and the requirement to fill up the oil after every second tank of fuel, along with the fact that it's *really difficult* to fill up the oil, makes this one of the dumbest cars on the road, despite being gorgeous.

    Pros: Looks lovely!

Cons: Rear seats are useless, fuel consumption is worse than a 5.7 litre V8 Corvette, oil use is terrible, and it isn't that quick! Rubbish!

Love It — gear box and clutch takes a little getting used to but feels so good when you do. only downer is that it sounds quiet for a "sports car"

    Pros: the feel good factor

    Cons: petrol 17 mpg!!!

Zoom Zoom — the car is great on the Dragon (US 129). If you havent been there.....go. 318 curves in 11 miles

    Pros: handling, rotary

    Cons: premium gas (expensive)

Efficient Sports Car--zoom Zoom! — Amazing engine; smooth revs and spins free. Weak torque made up for by high power in higher revs and amazing handling ability. The car stays planted but the back end is easy to control when you want it to spin around on you. Amazing interior... everything is ergonomic and all audio and climate controls are naturally placed and don't get in the way of driving. Lot of luxury feel for a sports car inside. But the feel of the car is still unbelievable sporty, driving position, seats, steering feel, etc. all lead you to sport. Innovate suicide doors allow you to carry up to three friends for a nice ride... back seats are full buckets and also comfortable with a decent amount of room! This is a driver's car through and through.

    Pros: Engine, interior, ergonomics, drivability.

Cons: Rotary is thirsty for oil and gas.

The Only Place You Get Less Than You Might Expect Is Under The Bonnet. — Looks good, sounds even better, well equipped, goes like stink, cheap(ish), very comfortable, practical, great engine that feels like it runs on double cream.

Pros: Wankel engine (228bhp), bloody quick.

Cons: Wankel engine (20mpg,if your lucky), bloody quick.

The Ultimate Enthusiasts Car. — The RX-8 certainly has it's quirks, and it isn't the most economical choice with today's energy prices. However, if you can live with the faults, you'd be hard pressed to find a vehicle that better connects with it's driver. Not to mention the joy of explaining the unique rotary engine.

Pros: Handling, braking, revability, unique motor & styling

    Cons: Gas mileage, build quality

You've Got To Drive It To Believe... Zoom Zoom Zoom! — Many cars have more HP, but few cars really compare, None that are in it's price range.

Pros: The sound, the ride, the control, the way it drives and responds, the interior, the way it looks, cheap insurance, cheap maintenance.

Cons: Low HP, low gas mileage.

This Car Is Awesome — I have owned this car for 1 year so far. Other that the poor fuel consumption, I cant think of any other con. The reliability is second to none and as Japanese vehicles they are built to last. The suicide doors are a great design and a large adult fits in the rear quite comfortably.

Pros: looks, handling, goes like stink

    Cons: fuel consumption

    Best Car I've Owned. —

My previous car was a souped up Subaru WRX. That car was way faster than my RX-8, did not burn oil and got slightly better fuel economy. Still, I would not trade my 8 for another Rex. This car is superior in every area except speed and cargo area. Unlike the Rex, road noise stays out of the cabin. It feels more stable at speed; the steering feel is better; and the styling is way more handsome. With the Rex, only kid racers and those on the import tuner scene shoed any interest in the car. The 8 draws everyone in everywhere I go. Not bad for a car that's been in production for four years already. Plus, four years in, it has retained over 67% of its initial value. All that, plus four adults fit comfortably. On top of that, many insurance companies rate it as a sedan and not a coupe, which means lower insurance rates. Thank God for those suicide doors in the back. On the other hand, it gets worse fuel economy than a V8 Chevrolet Corvette. It's pretty bad when a car with an engine that displaces a mere 1.3 liters and puts out relatively weak torque numbers gets 23% less fuel economy than a 6.1 liter V8. On top of that, it goes through synthetic oil like Lindsay Lohan goes through a bottle of Crystal. Its the kind of car that gives tree huggers and Al Gore the heebie jeebies. All in all, a great car that looks as great as it feels.

Pros: Awesome looks, fits four adults comfortably, retains value pretty well.

Cons: Burns oil like it's going out of style, mediocre fuel economy.
