My Rx8 — How many cylinders does it have? That's probably the most favorite question of all time asked to RX8 owners. The answer is none. It is using rotary engine with two rotors, each holding displacement of 654cc, totalling to around 1300cc and produces 238HP (claimed). It has no cylinder nor piston. This is the 2nd car I've owned. That explains the naming of car plate number. The only problem with this car is that there is no rotary engine technician where I live. Any problem with the car's engine would be complete disaster. As for performance, build quality and look, there is nothing to complain about.

Pros: great performance, smooth engine even at 9000 rpm, unique design, suicide doors, comfortable

Cons: bad mileage, hard to find technician

It's Blue — This car is art in form and function. I forgive it for for its really horrible mileage. My girlfriend has the 350Z, and here's the deal: Sure, the Z has a couple more horses, and is slightly faster for it... but I have back seats... and a better looking car. It's true.

Pros: It's fast and pretty

Cons: It has an addiction to oil.

Cool Looking Car. — It was okay. The engine in mine went on recall because it kept stalling, no it wasn't a manual transmission car, but the end would just quit when it was hot outside and I came to a stop in residential areas. The car, when it worked well, was very fun to drive. It could take corners very well. The car always looked fast though. Very sporty and cool.

Pros: Looks

Cons: the engine was bad

Rotary Engine — It is called Sue Helen! Great vavavoum acceleration and easy to handle. Do not need to be expert driver although it likes sliding on wet and oily roundabouts. A coupé with four confortable seats. Great engine noise and fun to drive when it is pushed. Although :( a very VERY poor second hand value.

Pros: I want more!

Cons: I want more!

Piece Of Crap — Let alone all the recalls and breakdowns in the first 6 months I had it, it had the worst performance ability of any car I have ever driven. Off the line a base Civic could take me. I could only beat it in the quarter mile. It had the gas guzzling ability of a V8, hp of a V6, and the torque of a 4 banger. Sucked soo much ass.

Pros: Looked good.  Always got comliments on it.

Cons: Everything but the looks.  Even the Nav system was the worst one I have ever used.  Ugh.

Fun Car, Especially Turbo'd — I put a turbo on my RX-8. GREAT car, TONS of fun, and with that turbo... it's just incredible. People say turbos on rotaries are unreliable, but if you get a good tune, and treat the car right (change the oil, watch coolant levels, etc) then it's just as reliable as anything else on the road.

Pros: BEAUTIFUL sound, great power band, well above its class handling

Cons: Picky if you're too lazy to properly maintain a sports car.

One Of A Kind Vehicle — The RX-8 is like no other car on the road. You must spend some real time behind the wheel to truly appreciate the the marvel of the rotary engine. While quick enough, you'll not be overly impressed with straight line acceleeration. And the non-existent low end grunt is something most enthusiasts will miss. However, the engine revs wth a smoothness and sound that begs for the driver to keeps the tach high...where it's more respectable horsepower band lives. Where the RX-8 shines is in it's balanced handing and apparent inability to ever stray from where you point it.

Pros: The best handling car I've owned, amazingly smooth engine with a sound all it's own, respectable acceleration and excellent brakes, excellent driving position.

Cons: Interior materials look and feel cheap, Horrible MPG, my farts sound better than it's Bose stereo.

Awesome Handling, Good Acceleration, Bad Gas Mileage — great handling, good-looking car. it comes with a 1.3 kiter rotary with a 9,000 RPM redline- you can't lose with that! it is electrically assisted power-steering as opposed to a fluid-driven system. This makes the handling feel more natural and gives good feedback to the driver. some bads, however- be prepared to be making some trips to the dealership if you buy a 2004, since it is the first model year for this car. also, the rotary engine gets horrible gas mileage and requires premium. also, you cannot beat a nissan 350z off the line. overall, this is the best car I have ever owned/driven to date. I have driven many cars as well, including BMWs, acuras, camaros, corvettes, among others. you will have a blast throwing this tiny car into some sweet turns.

Pros: fun to drive, unique -looking car, not a car you want to miss!

Cons: sub-par gas mileage and if you get a 2004, be prepared to be going to the dealership a lot.

'04 Rx8- Horrible Gas Mileage!! — The car pulls strong...accelerating faster as it flies to 9000RPM limit. It handles like it's on rails, and the brakes are unbeatable. It's one of the most enjoyable cars I've driven, but I'll never own another. Practically weekly repairs, along with 9mpg... it's a very expensive car to drive and maintain. It was costing significantly more then the monthly payments just in gas and repairs.

Pros: Very nice interior, beautiful exterior, great handling, brakes, acceleration, incredible engine noise, great stereo, etc

Cons: unbearable gas mileage, horrible build quality that demanded frequent repairs to keep it on the road.
