Kia's foray out of the econobox market begins with the 2004 Amanti, introduced this year as a mid- to full-sized luxury sedan. It features a 194-hp, 3.5-liter DOHC V6 mated to 5-speed manumatic. In addition to power windows, locks, and mirrors, the 2004 Amanti STD also has power front seats, leather and wood interior trim, dual-zone climate control, heated mirrors, cruise control and wheel-mounted audio controls for the CD player.
In terms of safety features, the Kia doesn't skimp either. Dual front airbags and side impact bags for both rows of seats, ABS brakes, foglights, and 16-inch alloy wheels are standard. Traction and stability control are optional. Most of the other options are convenience-oriented, such as a trip computer, auto-dimming rearview mirror, gararge opener, and memory settings for the driver. For winter comfort, heated leather seats are also available, and for summer fun, you can add a sunroof. Drivers say the 2004 Amanti STD is roomy, and love all the standard features. They also say the styling keeps it in line with more expensive luxury cars. A 17/25 mpg is disappointing, as are the shallow cupholders.
