A luxury Kia. This is not an oxymoron. The 2006 Kia Amanti is the third year for the Korean automaker's entry into the luxury full-size sedan market, without losing its focus on value and affordability. Yes, the Amanti is a high-end sedan for those on a budget. The 2006 Amanti gets a few more standard features that help to boost the luxury quotient, such as heated leather seats, a sunroof, auto-dimming mirrors, and a garage opener remote.

The 2006 Amanti is powered by a 3.5-liter, 200-hp V6 with a 5-speed automatic that has a manual mode. But being a full-size, the Amanti is heavy and so that 200-hp is not going to help with the somewhat sluggish acceleration. However, the Amanti does boast the most front head and legroom in its class and the most rear headroom (rear legroom is about average), meaning all five passengers can travel in relative comfort. Full power features, power front seats, dual-zone climate control, and heated mirrors add to both comfort and convenience.

Eight airbags front and back help boost safety ratings for the 2006 Amanti, which also comes with ABS brakes. Traction and stability control are optional. A new Infinity Package for 2006 adds on memory settings, a bigger trip computer, and a 6-CD changer. The Kia Amanti seems to be doing well for Kia as an affordable full-size sedan. Drivers say it is smooth and handles well and love all the interior space. The 15.5 cubic foot trunk is roomy, and the interior materials seem better than what you'd expect from Kia. And yes, the Amanti does come with Kia's great warranty. Low points include fuel economy (17/25 mpg), seat comfort on long rides, a soft ride, and some tendency for the paint to chip.
