Nuts And Bolts Seem Fine; Electronics Breaks — Driving and handling is fine by me; electronics seem to set out after 80000-90000 miles.

Very Poorly Made!!! — Have had major problems with the 2004 Explorer - mechanically. The first few years the car was a dream - a gas guzzler but for teh most part I expected that - with no repair other than usual and normal to be done to it. Almost the day that I went over my warranty 36k miles, the car has been nothing but problems with one issue and repair cost after another. The repairs I have been faced with have nothing to do with normal wear and tear - it is due to purely bad manufacturing of this car and obviously a horrible quality control department as the car I got should have never passed a quality check! People warned me not to buy a Ford...I should have listened!! I will never buy another Explorer or Ford again due to the very bad experience that I have had with the car and also with eth dealership as well as the horrible and pathetic corporate customer service who really are of no help whatsoever. I suggest if you have a problem or complaint to not even waste your time with corporate - hard enough to get a live person there, if you leave messages they don't return your calls. Sppeaking from experience document yoru calls...as it is like starting over every time you call them.

Travel Vehicle — Surprising amounts of torque for a V6, Independent suspension provides for a ultra smooth ride, Gas mileage been 16/21 respectively, ideal vehicle for more then 5 passengers. I do wish it had head rests in the front seats instead of the sportback seats. Transmission went out after 200k miles.

    Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Space, Power, Looks, and Customization Options

    Cons: Transmission

Loved this SUV. In fact, I'm getting another one (2014 or 2015)! Preferred to drive it over our second car, which is a sporty and fun-to-drive 300Z. Leather and 4WD a big plus but not "must haves". Li... Read More
