The LS is the entry point in the Outlander lineup, and it comes equipped air conditioning, cruise control, full power accessories, a CD player, a split-folding rear seat and a full size spare. This variant adds all-wheel drive. This AWD system features three settings: 2WD mode, an all-weather 4WD Auto mode and a 4WD Lock mode for the slickest of conditions.
LS option packages include Convenience (keyless entry, roof rails) and the Appearance Package (alloy wheels and privacy glass).

The XLS is the upper level trim in the 2003 Outlander lineup. The XLS gets all of the basic conveniences found in the LS, plus a leather-wrapped steering wheel, keyless entry, privacy glass, fog lamps, a roof rack and a rear spoiler. The XLS also upgrades to alloy wheels.
XLS buyers can add a sunroof, a premium Infinity sound system, leather upholstery, heated mirrors and heated front seats.
