Can never depress gas pedal to accelerate quickly either form a dead stop or when driving at any speed. The engine just stalls. What is the problem and how do I repair?

The Outlander is all new this year, as Mitsubishi attempts to sake a claim in the compact crossover SUV segment. The market is competitive and expansive, with numerous competitors and well-reviewed class leaders like the Toyota Highlander and the Honda CR-V. The Outlander gets a unique exterior treatment, which has attracted some buyers, but this first offering has still received average reviews.
There are four Outlander variants for the 2003 model year. The lineup begins with the LS, which is available with front or all-wheel drive. The second tier XLS is available with the same drive train options. All models come standard with the convenience basics, including cruise control, full power accessories, air conditioning and a split-folding rear seat. The XLS gets a few upscale touches, including keyless entry, tinted glass and all-wheel drive.
All four Outlanders are powered by a 2.4 liter inline four, which generates 140 horsepower and 157 pound-feet of torque. A four-speed automatic is the only transmission option, and fuel economy is estimated at 20/25 mpg.
The Outlander has received high marks for styling, handling, and interior layout. Reviewers agree that the Outlander offers the most stable and sedan-like ride in this class, complemented by precise steering and minimal body lean.
Drivers have found the four cylinder engine to be underpowered, and this shortcoming is most apparent during highway travel. Interior controls are well-placed, but consumers have commented that the user-friendliness could be improved.

the 2003 and 2004 models are very similar. This replacement from a collision will be easy to adjust to. The make made me believe that another vehicle would have sustained more damage and I would have been more seriously injured.Jul 30, 2022

Great small SUV. Great for hauling my consignment shop finds, furniture, groceries, etc.
Looks great, handles great, LOVE the heated leather seats. Great in snow. Lots of room for family. great car for sports-minded. Great to be able to buy things at Home Depot and get it home. The only thing that doesn't fit is plywood- but an be tied on top.Jan 29, 2012

Performance- she knows when to put down when she needs too.
Build Quality- The front lights will crack on all of these models. Everyone i seen had crack headlights. No other problems so far.
Appearance- gas mileage is pretty good, everything is fresh to death! Just get that oil change and car wash and you'll be fine.
Fun Factor- This car is fun to drive, you can take it on the beach or just drive around town. It drives smooth and im going to get the new GT version when i graduate! Its also fun with you got 2 12" subs in the back!May 20, 2010

Reliable never let me down in 6 years...but performance was no that amazing for a 2.4 litre engine. But been an amazing companion for all long trips around UAE. The fuel economy was not that great but managable..Parts were expensive.Dec 06, 2009

Comfortable ride, good power. A major problem with the right front axle couple of years ago, repaired and has been good since then. Headlight covers have stress fractures which have never been on recall list but should have been. Cost to replace both is astronomical. Front end stays in line. No tire wear other than normal wear. Gas mileage was 21 in town when new, now averages about 17 in town.Feb 11, 2009

My son shorted out his obd port!
Son tried checking codes with a paper clip and put the clip in the wrong pins! He said immediately...the horn came on...black wiper running and washer fluid was spraying everywhere constantly...hazard lights came on but weren't blinking! What could he have possibly shorted out or blown! The only way he could get everything to turn off was disconnectin the battery. I looked at it. I found out that even wit the car off there was drain on the battery. I had to pull the horn fuse...back wiper fuse...hazard light fuse...and dome light fuse to finally get no amp pull on the battery while the car was off. Im not sure where to go from here. All fuses are fine. I've checked them all. Also has no turn signals but headlights work fine. Wow and as I write this he just calls. Car was starting fine. He told me he disconnected and reconnected on the wires on the steering column and junction block hoping to reset the ecu. Now the car cranks but won't start. He said it started the first time...but only for a second then immediately turned itself off. Now just cranks. I'm at a loss. Not great with electrical issues like this.

2003 Mitsubishi outlander doesn't show D for drive
My 2003 Mitsubishi outlander shows park reverse and neutral but no D for drive on the dash. It also has a clunk from the rear which I am hoping has something to do with this? Am I missing a fuse or relay or something for the D not to show and for me not to be able to use the manual shift + and -. ?? Any answers would be appreciated.
