Nice Economical Car! — Love the Jeeps, it looks quite beautiful, especially for an SUV. It's so functional and has alot of space without taking up too much. Cannot complain about the acceleration at all but it could use better handling, it is 5.5 ft tall though so cant improve too much!

Pros: Great funtionality and acceleration!

Cons: Too high up and unreliable...

Stands Up To Competition — Jeep has a unique product niche in automobiles. Not many can compete with their range of unique vehicles. The Liberty is a reliable, fast, and versatile machine. I'm used to low-to-the- ground cars, but this SUV beats most cars I've driven both off the line and to the naked eye. It's pretty attractive with a sporty interior of dark colors and nice shapes. I would definitely consider getting one of these in the future.

Pros: reliable, fast, fun, 6-speaker powerful audio

Cons: high off the ground

Love My Liberty — I'm considering a 2008 with the rag top, but I wonder how well it will hold up in the Northeast winters !!

Pros: High up view, turns on a dime, a fun car to drive, not afraid to take  it on some really backwoods roads!

Cons: very thirsty!!

I Love It! — I have had this car since it was brand new. It now has 52000 miles and it is great. It drives well and is a lot of fun. The seats are very comfortable. It gets me anywhere I need to be in any weather (except hail). My only complaints are the poor fuel economy, the lack of power, and the fact it takes nothing to warp the brake rotors. With it being a Daimler Chrysler model, the parts are expensive. Overall it is a great vehicle I would recommend to anyone!

Pros: Comfortable, capable, reliable, attractive, online forums (http://www.lostkjs.com and http://www.jeepkj.com)

Cons: fuel economy, power, price of parts, stock brake rotors warp easily

Most Comfortable Seats Ever Experienced In A Car! — The interior is only of a mediocre quality, and so is everything else. But compared o the price, there is nothing better on the market!

Pros: Design, Trunk space, Seats, Sound system

Cons: Quality, Gas consumption

The Jeep Liberty Is About As Good As It Gets —

Bought new in 2002, but a 2003 Liberty Sport 4x4. This is by far, the best vehicle I've ever owned. It's also the only one I've ever been in a wreck with. I've had no major issues mechanically with this vehicle. I've done all my own oil and filter changes, and it's a breeze to change the oil and filter. You don't even have to jack it up! Good acceleration, 30,000 miles between tune-ups, and virtually a maintenance free vehicle. Only attention I give it is 3 month oil and filter changes and a 30,000 mile service for the transmission....also a tune-up and a coolant flush every 3 years. Good interior, but the driver's seat seems at a very weird angle to me....perhaps this makes the Jeep a little tiring on long drives. Just an update: Have had the vehicle for 12 years, and has almost 100,000 miles on it. The last 30,000 miles have been its best. Interior and exterior have held together very well considering the extreme climate here. Now, if only Jeep could figure out a way to get 30 mpg on a vehicle like this. It would be a winner hands down! Very strongly built. I slid on ice last winter and slammed rear end first into a concrete center divider with damage to the rear door and spare tire assembly. It was probably my fault as I didn't have it in 4wd at the time. Speaking of 4WD....it's good when in 4WD Hi. I don't have a clue what the 4WD LO is for, and I've never used it. We have snow for 6 months of the year around here, so this Jeep is a perfect vehicle for that. Concerning squeaks and rattles...the dashboard has an annoying rattle behind the speedometer, but I've learned to live with it. Excellent AM/FM/CD stereo..with beautiful sound. The only three minor complaints I would have with the Jeep Liberty is brake rotor noise from the rear when the rotors are wet and you're backing up, slight front end vibration at higher speeds, which seems endemic no matter what tires you put on, or how perfectly they're balanced, and poor gas mileage. There is a trick to increasing your gas mileage....don't go over 60mph on the freeway, because then it sucks gas like a pig. It is a fun, comfortable, vehicle to drive. It looks good, and it's reliable as hell. Could one ask for much more????

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Good in snow, very reliable mechanically, good exterior paint

Cons: sucks gas, some interior dashboard rattles, occasional rear brake rotor noise

All Around Good Ride! — I thoroughly enjoy this vehicle the 4x4 never left me stranded this winter and we had a couple ten inch snows. We live on a gravel road where they do not plow and there were no problems. Love the heated seats and now the cold air. It gets so cold I have to turn it down. It has CD player and a great stereo. All leather and all the options available. All working great.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: 4 Wheel drive, is great in the rain and snow. Fun to drive.

Cons: Need bigger vehicle to put a receiver hitch on and pull trailer or pop up.

2003 Jeep liberty sport with premium rims. buy one There tall as a truck sits as high as the ford f150 with a 2in lift theres more than enough head space to if you cant see over the hood you can use a butt spacer and have head room im 6/5 and still have 3-5 inches of head space cargo area is superb if you fold the back seat you get the same cargo room as the ford escape. and also the roof rack and with the option of getting the 3.7l v6 you will have the power to tow and carry what you need plus your family of 3 or 4. the jeep has a great 4x4 system however to first time users get it checked out mine was stiff and hard to get in and out of gear for the year it should have been broken in by now. Overall Jepp liberty before the facelift and body change is a must buy.

Power Ranked 2003 Ford Escape XLT AWD worse.
"the jeeps 3.7l v6 gave the jeep an advatage of more power to the wheels and more speed on the road however with the independent suspencions and body shape and weight the jeep doesnt have the gas milage we want. "
Handling Ranked 2003 Ford Escape XLT AWD worse.
"it turns sharper and its independent suspensions allowes for alittle more control without feeling like im tipping over while the ford escape felt likea hatch back or a wagon of sorts while driving it and excelerating and taking a quick turn it felt unbalanced almost."
Looks/Style Ranked 2003 Ford Escape XLT AWD worse.
"the jeep is often called a girls jeep and the escape a grocery getter but the jeep has multiple factors that make it look better and that is body style and capability no mater how you have your jeep liberty rig long as its 4x4 it can keep up with ford raptors and hummers and wranglers sometimes ven surpassing them. they can pull there own weight basically is my point. they were made for guantlet. "
Front Seats Ranked 2003 Ford Escape XLT AWD better.
"comfort from the seat itself is crusial in a awd or 4x4 some trails go on for miles....Miles and one thing i know with the jeep libert is they have stiff seats with no adjustment for lumbar or height makes a long drive feel like an eternity "
Back Seats Ranked 2003 Ford Escape XLT AWD worse.
"cargo volume with the back seats down for the jeep is slightly better due to the jeep shape it has superior height to most compact suvs standing as tall as a fullsize pickup. "
Cargo Capacity Ranked 2003 Ford Escape XLT AWD worse.
"the height of the back of the jeep makes it taller than most suvs my mother 2015 Rav4 is almost 3 inches shorter than the jeep liberty my neighbors gmc canyon 4 door is shorter than my jeep the jeeps body design makes it ideal as a utility vehichle with the cargo length with the seats folded down and the opening hatch you can do all your projects even without a trailer unless you want a fridge or a large toll chest then your out of luck with only making roughly 69cubic inches of cargo space."
Family Car Ranked 2003 Ford Escape XLT AWD better.
"features such as the touchless live 4wd system makes it so you dont have figet around with your 4x4 gears and the updated radio system allowed for handfree calling and some have the sun roof making it nice for offroading or classic trips along the coast or winding back roads."
Value Ranked 2003 Ford Escape XLT AWD worse.
"the 4x4 system and indepented suspension pairs with the dual disk brakes and sharp handling the jeep in almost like a poor mans rally car but a jeep. and is faster and stronger also more ground clearence "
Would Buy Ranked 2003 Ford Escape XLT AWD worse.
"i look at a car or truck and ask what can i get out of this vehicle the most without to much compromise. the bells and wislte of the escape are nice but for me the jeep will win first place all the time the rigged stiff seats give a sense of safety almost and handling of the jeep including overdrive for towing or large hills along with the height and versatility the 2003 jeep liberty sport as a base modle deserves the trophy for best all around vehicle."
