Awesome Car But Only For The Committed. — The V6 in the 525i is a little underpowered, I would actually suggest going with the 528. However, this in underpowered as compared to its bigger brother, not in general. Its still a fantastic drive. Tight suspension, and elegant lines make this car the nicest ive ever owned to this day, and its almost 10 years old now. Car can be finicky at times, and its it expensive as heel to maintain, but if you can't afford to fix it, you shouldnt buy it, IMO.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Eye catcher, great suspension. Exhilerating drive.

Cons: Slightly underpowered, expensive maintenance, does't drive to the gas station for me

Good Value And Look — Can be expensive to upkeep. The E39 has problems with the charging system (been through 3 alternators)and it is not the most reliable 5 series ever built. Performance is good and the look is great. Good Gas mileage and is very stable at high speeds.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Angel Eyes, Stylish, Classy

Cons: Cup Holders Terrible, No Console, High Maintnence

2j Bmw 525 —

First of all my uncle put a 2J engine in it replacing the old one this was a second hand car that has been worked on from the previous owner and it has the ///M treatment to (body kitted, steering, rims and gear knob) The build quality is a little 90s feeling to it, it is far from perfect as some wire has to be remapped and you can see them hanging out bits by bits from places like the side doors and the gearbox. However on the good old days the engine was healthy enough to produce around 300 horse power and it was very fast and the exhaust note sounded like a riced out Japanese car. The automatic gear box need to be re-worked on I think as it does not shift constantly at lower RPM when cruising. The appearance of the out look is ordinary just like any other 5 series from the old day, though under the bonnet theres a 2j engine from a supra. I was once doing a 180 on a highway and the engine wasn't even revving hard I knew it still got plenty more to serve me but I chickened out as the steering wheel starting to shake a little. In the end we sold it because the engine broke down twice. and we replaced it twice too, we learned lesson from it but it was fun to drive knowing that under the bonnet you have a 300 horse power :)

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: powerful car, stiff chasis, exhaust note sounded like a riced out Japanese car

Cons: pitiful the engine broke down twice, not so reliable. build quality is a little outdated, not so appealing anymore

You Should Try One...you'll Love It! — If you like a high class four door sedan and you don't want to pay yourself to a sickness, this is a car for you. It has good maneuverbility, good driving dynamics and it just looks great. Its shapes avoid time like a time machine...BMW has that special gift! Build quality is high from inside and outside. My own example is equipped with three liter straight six turbodiesel engine. With 193hp and 440Nm it has great acceleration and top speed...with a minor fuel consumption when compared to those benefits. And it just handles great! Maintenance cost are quite normal, except turbocharger and suspension. And fun factor...yes, this car is very fun to drive!

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Lots of torque!

Cons: None!

Best Car I Ever Owned. Car And Driver Gave It Its Highest Ratings In 2002, No Other Sedan Has Ever. — Handles great, goes for what it is. Looks sexy with minor mods. Not expensive, its cheap to maintine. Not boring to drive. Has its noises, but from driving it hard. Car is super fun to drive, only down fall, eats rear tires fast.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Fun

Cons: Don't go buy one!

2002 Bmw 530i M Package — I love absolutely everything about the E39. The angel eye head lights and jeweled taillights were upgraded for this model year. The M package upgrades to 17'' BBS wheels, M steering wheel, and every option offered for the car. When you stomp your foot down to pass, the car launches even at highway speeds, and if you buy one, you will be infinitely happy!!

Pros: It's German

Cons: Repair costs

Bmw 520i E39 Model Year 2002 — Great acceleration and engine sound, but high fuel consumption inside town. The car drives superbly at high speeds. One main problem that I face is that there are a lot of plastic parts that seem to break easily. Replacement of these parts can be very costly sometimes.

Pros: Great value for money!

Cons: Difficult to park due to it's large size.

02 Bmw 540i M Sport — Its a 2002 BMW 540i M Sport! Awesome car, Top Speed = 164 mph! The body lines are awesome. the looks are helped out by having 19" M5 wheels. The color is a Gray that is very close to the natural color of the M5 wheels.

Pros: The design, performance, hanling, and comfort!

Cons: The Local Dealers are Terrible, except for BMW of North Houston
