Love It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! — if you bought a suburban for the image and not the utility, sell it and buy yourself a civic coupe. this miracle of modern engineering is a blessing to all those who can properly enjoy it, and a curse to those who don't.

Pros: towing.  hauling: goods, people, pets

Cons: can't legitmately support owning one

Sub — Performance with the 5.3 is more than adequate for the Suburban. The AUTO-TRAC feature that came out after 1999 is the best. (this is my fourth suburban). Right now it is over 100k and just put new hubs in the front. They were simply worn, and I am hard on a four wheel drive vehicle. Inside with the captains seats keeps the kids from "HES TOUCHING ME" yet far enough I cant reach them from the front. Mileage is as you would expect from a large SUV. LOVE MY SUB!

Pros: PERFORMANCE

Cons: FUEL MILEAGE

Chevy Suburban — Has the 8.1 liter engine and will pull anything, including my enclosed trailer with a 7000 pound 1934 Sixteen Cylinder Cadillac inside. It has a nice interior and great brakes, a big improvment over the 4 Suburbans that I owned prior to it. Lots of room inside and a nice stereo too. Like the individual 2nd row seats.

Pros: lots of power, comfortable

Cons: not so great on gas

8.1l 496 Hauls Real Good. Real Fast. Torquey. — The 8.1L engine is really powerful. The handling isnt great, the suspension is real stiff, but its a truck. Not a civic. The cabin is real comfortable and spacious. Very good visibility.

Pros: FAST! Torque monster. Tows well. Good truck.

Cons: Bad gas mileage. Thats it.

Overall We Would By Another Brand New 2001 But Not The New 2011 — Our 2001 has been super reliable. We have taken several long trips and this is a comfortable ride. We have also used the truck extensively to ferry all type of building and garden supplies. Always seems to have enough room. Our Suburban has just turned 191,000 miles and still running strong. No fluid leaks or transmission problems.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Love the front seats with arm rest.  Great for long trips.  Our Suburban has been very realiable

Cons: Only major negative has been issues with the second row captains seats fold down mechanism.  Other trim items have been a hastle, clips and such coming loose.  Door creaks

Best Multipurpose Vehicle On The Road — Very solid truck. Has the 5.3L Vortec with a 4L60E and 4X4, provides enough power for about anything without hurting gas mileage too much (20 MPG highway 12 city and 17 combined). Tows and hauls about anything, great on snow/ice and decent off road, has had 200k miles free from any major repairs other than typical wear parts and normal maintenance. Has gone all across the country without any trouble. Has all the features on the interior you want (leather, audio system, versatility). It's built on the Silverado 1/2 ton platform so it has durable powertrain components and running gear. I use it to do everything; commuting, towing the boat, road trips, off roading, and hauling people and cargo around.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: Good vehicle for about anything, tough

Cons: Expensive to gas up
