Great Looking. Somewhat Fast. Not Reliable!! — Do you want a car that has the service engine light come on once a week? A car where replacing head gaskes is a yearly thing? A car where sensors are replaced at every oil change or relays are junk? Well the grand am is your car! Pros: Looks Cons: Everything else |

Constant Problems — I bought the car used and after about a month have had non stop problems. Every time something goes wrong, I take into the shop, but they can't find any problems because no codes are showing up and it don't act up always when I take it in. Now I'm having problems with the car not always starting, thought it was the fuel pump, but when I took it in, it didn't show up as being bad, mechanic can't diagnose any problems, so I take it home and dealing with it not starting after I drive it for awhile, stop at store etc... come out, and it won't start. Pros: Nice riding car, handles good Cons: something is always going wrong, but no codes show up so can't fix |

Grand Am Gt- Not Just Your Girl Friends Grocery Getter — With a lot of money and some hard work, you can create something no one has. LOL I started with a base 2000 GT, then I upgraded everything. i upgraded the engine with 3.5L stage 2 heads and cam, S&S headers, 28# injectors with ported polished intakes. Built a performance trans with Raybestos clutches and EP differential, improved all around performance and durability. Making 289 HP and 300 FT Lbs of torque. All was good until someone totaled my car in a hit and run. :( Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: cheap-inexpensive. easily to upgrade, very underestimated. usually cheaper insurance due to safety features. Are capable of 24 MPG in the city and 32-34 MPG on highway. traction control is a plus, saves tires Cons: cheaply made. problems with rust. lower intake gaskets blow easily, especially if they arent installed correctly. power steering system has problems with pumps and racks going out if not maintained regularly. transmissions break easy and have no dip stick to properly check, good one GM. Know for leaking sunroof/moonroof drains that burn up BCM and damag fuse boxes. some 99-02's have a bad gas level float so the gauge doesnt always read right. |

Very Happy With This Car Overall — Just and overall reliable, attractive, powerful and safe car. The A/c gets cold almost immediately, as well as the heat does in the winter time. The acceleration is very powerful and satisfying, for people who like speed. and the sound system is amazing, great quality with satisfying bass and an EQ board for you specific sound qualifications. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: Reliable car for everyday life, long life cars, power and speed, saftey, and a sporty look. Cons: Not many bad things i can say about this car except that the rocker panels need to be replaced because of rust. |

It's A Nice Car, — This car is pretty good. It goes pretty fast as you can see in some of the pictures I have in the gallery. It gets terrible gas mileage, probably because it has a 3.4L V6. I have the GT1 package on mine, so it has stuff like leather, power sunroof, and steering wheel controls for the radio. Its a white 4 door as you can tell from the picture, a lot of people like the 2 door Grand Am's, but when it comes down to practicality, this is a lot more practical. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: 3.4L V6, Sunroof, Leather Cons: 4 Doors |

Not as fast or as stylish, but I love it all the same. RAM Air V6 is quick to the touch, yet has trouble accelerating confidently past 90 mph. Car tops off at 135mph. A bit of a disappointment. I dont expect much from an engine with 175hp, anyway. The handling is much easily to control, as well as forgiving. FWD is like having a get out of a f-up free card. Pulling is always better than pushing when your going around a horseshoe curve at 85mph+(without sliding, that is). The stock seats are quite nice and can be relaxed in for hours. Smooth and comfortable driving is always a thumbs up. vs2000 Ford Mustang GT Coupe RWD
