Good Overall Performance. —

Street Tuned for a little edge against road rage drivers, slow folks and ricers... it was resurrected after a freak accident and all the tuning and fabrication was done for 3 years, all the little details slowly but surely done because of a tight budget and limited availability of some parts...had a few problems but i guess it's part of the scene..there has been a lot of trial and error processes especially with the engine..considering the fact that a less powerful engine was swapped with the stock d16, and most of the parts were fabricated... fun factor? OH YEEEAAAAH!!! On the more technical side, the modifications seemed to have made the Civic hungrier for fuel with an average of 15km per liter (40 liter tank). This is somewhat unusual for an earlier version Vtec engine's fuel economy versus the much more powerful DOHC Vtec. And the McPherson Strut upgrade at the front end seemed to have stiifen the ride too much while the stock rear multi-link wishbone really took its toll and gave in, so a modified tortion strut bar was fitted in to lift the suspension a little and give it more "movement" even with a loaded rear end...A/C still runs like new because of a newer system and compressor. Audio works well with the stock head unit (Fujitsu Ten) which is already obsolete, also surprisingly the only downside was the exterior appearance because the dents and loose bumper/ fenders were'nt really fixed.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Durable chassis, still a good run for a 15 year old car...

Cons: kinda old, lots of problems with cooling, gears, AC and suspension...
sometimes hard-to-find parts are just fabricated and after-markets installed...

Its Just A Civic, Get Over It — pros: great on gas, enough power to get me there, handles well, its a standard cons: mine burns oil a lot of oil, not enough pickup to impress the ladies, as a standard 5th gear is strictly used on flat highways.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Gas mileage, cheap

Cons: Not enough power for showing off, lame car when stock

Easy To Repair, Reliable — Poor acceleration, brake better with rear disk upgrade, handling good, good quality but poor sound isolation, very low cost to run or repair, easy to get parts, many many many aftermarket parts for this car, and can fit a lot of other motor in.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Nice looking car, cheap parts

Cons: Sound Isolation, Performance

1996 Honda Civic DX Review
PDRcivic says:
This was and the most reliable car I ever owned. It is a very tough little car. The motor still purrs with every start. I have 260,000 on the car. If I choose to repair some of the worn out parts (It is finally wearing out in areas.), the motor will probably run for at least another 90- 100,000 - very tough car.

1996 Honda Civic DX Hatchback Review
MirDylan says:
This was my first car. She was in good condition and I loved her. However, I was constantly battling timing and cooling issues. Not to mention for how small she was my gas was not very efficient. Overall a good car but I just couldnt keep up with the ticking bomb of things consistently going out.

Cargo Capacity Ranked 1985 Honda Civic Wagon 4WD better.
"The 85 honda civic has fully collapsable and removable rear seats. Ive consistently used her for hauling large loads. Camped in the back as well as set up a lg dog kennel when traveling with my pitbull. "
Would Buy Ranked 1985 Honda Civic Wagon 4WD better.
"The 85 is a 4wd all around great car. Good for camping, commuting, hauling, and great in snow conditions. The only real draw back is finding parts when working on her simple because she is so old. "
