In 1994, the Dodge Intrepid STD received a few upgrades, bringing it even closer in line with the ES trim. The 3.3-liter V6 engine was boosted to 161-horsepower for extra kick and confidence when passing others on the highway. Air conditioning was now standard, as was a touring suspension previously only offered with the ES. New options this year included a power sunroof, an alarm system, and a power-adjustable passenger seat to match the one on the driver's side.
The engine power and smooth handling on highways is a big plus with owners, who also love how comfortable the car feels to drive, despite its large size. There is a lot of storage and plenty of room for passengers to ride in comfort. But many drivers also complain about the poor maintenance record of the 1994 Intrepid, and that one of the reasons the transmission has so many problems is that it can't handle the engine size.

Rating just about average with owners and experts, the 1994 Dodge Intrepid ES is a four-door sedan that will seat five or six, hold plenty of cargo in the trunk, and get you where you want to go fast. With the standard 3.3-liter, 161-hp V6 or the optional 3.5-liter, 214-hp V6 and 4-speed auto tran, it hugs the road and accelerates quickly. Sportier than the base model, it offers fog lights and 16-inch wheels. New this year is a variable assist power steering system.
Along with such options as leather seats, new options include a power sunroof, an anti-theft alarm, and a power-adjustable passenger seat. Traction control and sport suspension are other options available on the ES. Drivers point out the style, smooth ride, and engine power (of the 3.5 V6) as top winners of the Intrepid. Most say you will spend any money you save from the good fuel economy and affordable price on maintenance and repair issues.
