I Will Never Sell This Vehicle — Great overall vehicle, my father bought it new in 1993 and gave it to me when I turned 16, and I have been driving it for 3 years now. It has 180,000 miles on it today. Really love this truck, it is great in even the harshest winters. There is no rust anywhere to be found, even though half the time it is parked outside, even in the winter and it never fails to start. It does not get very good gas mileage, but it is still a great daily driver.

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Great build quality, reliable, comfortable ride is nice after a long day at work, great in the winter or for towing trailers or boats.

Cons: Only 20mpg at best, 3.00L V6 leaves a lot to desire in the performance category, and the handling is soft and unresponsive.

The Bottom Line Is That If I Were To Buy Another Small Truck I Would Definatly Buy Another Ranger. — Ford Rangers are very reliable trucks. They handle great in snow and on ice. The 2wd's are even great in the mud. The motors are very reliable. Mine has a little over 237k on the 4.0v 6, and its never been rebuilt and it doesnt burn a drop of oil.

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: I like the power and reliability of the motors.

Cons: I don't like how the front end is lower than the back.

Great Vehicle To Own Along With Low Maintanance. Take Care Or It, It Will Take Care Of You!! — my 1993 ford ranger 2wd is a great little truck. runs great but could still use some work in my opinion. although it is 2wd it does really well in the snow. i plan on putting a bigger motor in it and a 4wd kit under it.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: gas milage and still pretty quick!

Cons: very light rear end, washboard is terrible

Bought it used with over 90,000 miles on it in 2002. Needed very little work. Just maintenance items. Rarely drove it and was always shocked that it fired up after sitting for weeks or months. Basically used for yard work and a work commute now and then. Really dependable. Got great gas mileage (24 mpgs on the highway). Barely had HPs though - think it was under 100. I changed the exhaust to boost it up 10% and it made some improvement to power. Still it is an anemic little truck but gets the job done. Clutch was still working when I sold it in 2009 and it had 117,000 on the odometer then. Wish they would update the styling of this truck and make it more viable for a family with a cab that can hold 2 adults and 3 small children on the back bench seat. Would be a perfect suburban truck then.
