1991 Volkswagen Golf 4 Dr GL HatchbackReview

Wv Golf Ii Td — Great car, cheap spareparts and good km/l. Could use a intercooler to increase power. Very reliable and very few electrical gadgets that can fail. It could use new seats, but what can one expect from at car build in '91...... Buy one with metallic paint, it will look a lot better than white. Pros: Rock solid Cons: Color ![]() Looking for a Used Golf in your area?CarGurus has 1,010 nationwide Golf listings starting at $3,600. |

89/100 — This is an all around stocky car. The handling is nice, it sticks to the curves, on the autobahn it performs wonderful, and they last forever! These things were built to stand the test of time. They are so easy to work on and to modify, if you feel so inclined. I am not really into the whole blocky look, but I picked up one over the weekend for $400 USD. Nothing wrong with it but a little bit of rust. You could do allot worse that pick up one of these babies!! Over all, I give it 89/100. Pros: Great run-a-round car, cheap, and solid. Cons: Not enough leg room for tall folks, and the sound system. |

Good Car... Very Dependable — i just got my 1991 vw golf gl for 300 hundred dollars and it seems to be the best 300 i ever spent. it needs a little exhaust work. but it has less miles then my dads jetta and run very well. the only thing i dont like about this car is the usuall vw noises. i constantly think somthing is wrong. then i relize that clicks and stuff were prolly coming from my cam. i kinda dig the sounds now. Owner for 0 years, 4 months Miles Driven per Year:10,000 Pros: good gas milage and has decent acceleration for a sub compact and lots of head and leg room Cons: noise. and automatic trans. trouble. |

My First Car - Rose Tinted Glasses Firmly In Place! — My first car was a Mk II Golf 1.3 Ryder special edition. I loved the car, even though it was about 10 years old. It drove really well, and its the only car i've ever had that i've taken beyond its handling limits! The 1.3 engine was pretty slow, though I didn't realise it at the time. It wasn't that comfy either, and the reliability wasn't superb, but then it was 10 years old! As much as anything I would recommend the Golf Mk 11 because of the way that it drove. nO Power assisted steering here, but instead very direct, communicative fun. Enjoy! Pros: Handling, looks and build quality. Cons: Ride quality, asthmatic 1.3 engine and crash safety. |

Us European's Were Lucky To Have What Was Called The G60 :) — Imagine, Golf GTI with a supercharger. That was more or less it. And a flame thrower too (if you bypassed the cat). Very cool and quick car with a very specific noise (and much better than the rally version). Pros: That noise, those flames :) Scaring the grannies on Sunday morning Cons: I had an integrale before that |

The Mkii Golf, The Best There Ever Was! — 1.3 lt, 65bhp (I think), black leather seats and interior. On it's later life I've installed a custom exhaust, TSW rims, APEX sport suspension and lowered it which changed the handling of the car tremendously. Sold it unhappily on 2002. Pros: Solid, robust, excellent brakes, fabulous handling (a bit of understeering on speeds above 140 kph), roomy, fabulous design. Cons: weak-to-dead performance (for the stock 1.3 GL), expensive maintenance (back then) |

High Manuvearibility , Reactive, Handy, Swift , Invinting You To Have Fun. — The most funny car that I´ve ever driven. Mine had headers and everyone looked at it when I was passing. Somewhat agressive acceleration, good for evasion and excellent on taking the curves. It always let you know that you have full control: Actually it may feel as a body extension, no surprises performing with excellency. The only thing I missed ever is the max speed: 165 km/h for the GL with version 2 doors , 1.8 liters and 4 speed manual transimission. In the present, you can find all of this in very expensive cars. And entry level cars in Mexico, can hardly match this one.(it only is surpassed in final speed and fuel economy). Ahhh , don´t forget durability it is a VW with last more than you :) Thanks for reading. Owner for 3 years, 5 months Miles Driven per Year:18,000 |
